Older BlueSolar 150/35 MPPT - No connect with VE.Direct/USB cable and v6 software

I’ve had my BlueSolar MPPT 150/35 online for over 7 years, worked fine. I updated the firmware (IIRC to v1.17) not long after purchase, no problems. Since my designated Win7 laptop (solar only use) has died recently, I haven’t been able to see the controller via USB VE.direct cable.

I’m now using Windows 10 and installed the current version (v6) of VE.connect, but no success. Windows sees the cable when plugged in and the MPPT is online and powered. I have upgraded to lithium storage so I need to access the settings. I’m currently using the rotary switch on 7. I did try to connect to a second 100/20 MPPT, but same discouraging results.

Is my MPPT 150/35 firmware too old to see the new VE.connect software? Or maybe a bad USB cable? (work fine before I switch batteries & computer)

You can download old versions of VConnect from here.

The old Vconnect software did not prove successful. I am still without USB access - purchased new cable, different Win10 laptop, nothing.

If i need to replace the controller, it will NOT be Victron.

As “what” does windows see the cable ?

W10 is still the standard os for most of us, it should work for you to.

You might need the usb seriell driver in the correct version.

W10 32 or 64 bit ?

You may have to upgrade the firmware on the MPPT. Try VictronConnect version, which worked with Win 7 and see if you can upgrade the MPPT firmware. 7 years is a long time in fast moving software development and even Win10 is now at eol from a Microsoft support perspective. Also consider installing the driver as was suggested.
