Multiplus 24/3000/70 "No Connection"

Hi there.

I just installed a lithium battery, replacing my 8 deep cycle batteries. I have updated what I believe are all the necessary settings in my inverter, MPPT 100/50 Charge Controller and BMV 712 Smart Battery Monitor. I also updated the firmware for all three devices.

Everything seems to be working well except that I can no longer monitor the inverter via the Blue Power Panel. Everything says “No Connection”. Wondering if it’s a setting that I missed or maybe I changed something that I shouldn’t have changed? Perhaps the updated firmware on the inverter is the issue? Any advice would be appreciated. FYI, I can still access the inverter info via the VE Bus/VC app.

Many thanks.

Terry.

Can you switch on the inverter / status LEDs ?
The fuse may have tripped when reconnecting the battery.

Yes. Inverter still works, I just can’t see it on the power panel.

Is it just a normal LiFePo4 battery or with a external BMS connected to the Victron system?

Normal battery. I added a couple of photos to the original post.

found this on the old Forum …

looks like it’s a problem with the new firmware …

Thanks for your help. I’ll do some digging.

What FW are you using on the Colour Control?
1.6 ?

By Colour Control, you’re referring to the Blue Power Panel?

0x0402

The more I read, the more I think that it’s the BPP being outdated. If so, not much I can do except to upgrade to a Cerbo.

The panel is still being sold … so it really should work.
and I really made a mistake at the top … I meant the Blue Panel and not the Colour Control
A Cerbo with a display is better and nicer, but then I’d prefer the Ekrano … it also has its connections on the back

Good morning Terry - Did you ever get a resolution to this one?

I have a similar issue - my MultiPlus 5000’s have stopped communicating with my BPP2 following a firmware upgrade - we also tried to go back a few versions.

Also, is it possible to update firmware on the BPP2 panel? (I appreciate these are old now but it worked fine and I’m not ready to shell out hundreds of £ just to get back to where I was last week.

Many thanks

John

Not as such. Lightning struck my house in June and the inverter died. The new inverter seems to communicate properly.

Crikey! Sorry to hear that Terry.
Did you ever find out whether the BPP2 could get its firmware updated?
Mine was OK before an inverter update so I’ve been keen to understand if a BPP update will help or whether the firmware on the inverters will need backdating.

John

Sorry, John. I didn’t dig any deeper into it. Hopefully someone here can help.

Take care.
