I am having to change my set up again,
I just got a ve lithium ng battery and a ve bus bms ng to connect to the battery.
Both are new and I would like to charge the battery to 100% but would like to do it outside my rv in a workshop before putting the battery in the rv.
From reading the manual all I need to do is to connect the two cables from the battery to the bms the connect the battery charger which is a ve 12. 15 charger.
Is this ok

The charger is just a plug in the wall 110 ac that connects to the victron connect app and gives me a choice of either 4 amps or 15 amps

Just connecting the BMS in this configuration does nothing. The VE.Bus BMS does not have a contactor to stop a charge/discharge, nor does the battery module itself. You could just as well charge the battery without the BMS connected, with the same lack of security.

To integrate this correctly, even if just temporary, you would need to use the ATC output on the VE.Bus BMS to stop the charger whenever the BMS requires that. Some have remote on/off some dont, if you give us the exact model of the charger then that would help.

In any case, you also need to set the charge voltages according to the victron smartLithium specs

The Lynx BMS NG is a full BMS (with Caontactor, precharge etc), and connecting the battery to the battery side of the bus bars and the charger to the load/input side of the bus bars, and then connecting the Battery CAN cables to the BMS will work.

However, its not clear from the question if the BMS is in fact the Lynx BMS NG. Please confirm

OP is specifically talking about the VE.Bus BMS, which does not have a contactor nor a shunt

I have the ve bus bms ng and the lynx distributor on ve lithium ng 300 ah battery.
The charger i use is a ve small Bluetooth 12 volt 15 or 4 amps and it connects to the victron connect app.
