(Small) Smart BMS for NG batteries

I’m investigating to upgrade the old lead batteries of my campervan, and would like to install one or 2 Lithium NG batteries and a MultiPlus II charger/inverter (and in the future solar panels). The only Victron BMS I found for NG batteries are the SmallBMS NG and the Lynx Smart BMS NG. The first is (according to the information I found) not capable of properly communicating with the MultiPlus, the second seems way too big (and way too expensive) for my campervan (with only 12V / 200-400 Ah in batteries combined).

The VE.Bus BMS V2 seems the perfect “size” for my setup, but I think it does not support the (digital) NG protocol of the Lithium NG batteries.

Is there a “VE.Bus BMS NG” device available (must be, given the info here: https://www.victronenergy.com/upload/documents/DimensionDrawing-VE.bus-BMS-NG.pdf), or is the VE.Bus BMS V2 capable of communicating with the NG batteries, or is there another option?

The original VE Bus BMS V2 is NOT compatible with NG batteries.

It is my understanding that NG versions of the other BMS versions will be available at some point and the drg shows this intent. I do not know when it is due, you could ask your dealer if they have any info.

Right. Thanks for the insight.

I’ll try to pull the old batteries through the summer and hope for the Ve.Bus Smart BMS NG to be available after summer.

@guystewart maybe you can shed some light if and when such a “mid-size” BMS for NG will become available? Is it worth the wait, or should I look for onother option?

A VE.Bus BMS NG is in development and will be available “soon”, maybe next month.

That would be great, I hope you are right in your forecast!

I can start designing the rest of my setup now and start building in the autumn/winter!

Thanks, but I’m not in a hurry anymore. Summer holiday is sooner than I have sufficient time. It will have to wait until later.
