hi QR code also not working for “samsung galaxy tab” it gives an error message “can’t setup device couldn’t install admin app”
Interesting, I managed OK last night on a Galaxy tablet A9+ 11inch
I have tried a few times now and it just keeps rejecting… I have attempted installing the APK directly and it still rejects… I’m going to try it on a different device next time
No. But I see other posts with the same issue here.
Do you folks think that this will work on a Fire Tablet? Probably not, I imaging.
Interesting price … but the only thing I’ve managed to do so far is to install the “APK third-party software” for the Google Playstore
A complete reinstallation is unknown to me at the moment …
Lenovo Tab M8 (HD) worked after following this to factory reset:
Then the instructions above.
I note the following:
-
On the ‘brief’ display it’s stuck in the off centre view and the top right button that normally flicks between centre and off-centre doesn’t do anything. Edit: Since Resolved, rebooted Venus Rasp Pi v3.50 and fixed.
-
The display brightness is very bright and stuck on 87% would be really good if we could lower that.
-
There is a thin white line on the very right edge of the screen from top to bottom in all menus (brief/overview/settings) can’t make it go away.
Otherwise very neat thanks!
Regarding your first note, I have experienced that a couple of times when accessing the new GUI over LAN via browser, refreshing the cache has resolved the issue each time.
Thanks for the reply
Just played around some more, looks like this is using Opera browser, I tried clearing the cache for it but it made no difference.
Update: tried accessing the Venus Rasp Pi 3.50 via another browser on a different device and noticed the same view issue which was not seen before. Rebooted Venus Rasp Pi and that specific issue is now resolved.
Looks like a really nice feature, however I can’t install it on a Samsung Galaxy Tab A6 (2016), android 8.
Tried multiple times with factory reset, but after scanning QR code it errors out. Can’t install admin app.
I have tried this on two separate devices by different manufacturers and each fails with the same result. Device 1, Lenovo Tab M7; Device 2, Samsung A21 phone. Both have later Android versions than the minimum required. I do the factory reset, I scan the QR code, I then get a message saying "This device belongs to your organisation. To learn more, contact your IT Admin. I am the IT admin and I have no idea what to do.
Anyway, I click next and I think that the installation tries to start, as the screen says “getting ready for work setup” and then it eventually times out with the error “Can’t set up device. Couldn’t install the admin app” At this point, the only option on the screen is “reset” which throws me right back to the factory reset screen.
I also tried installing directly from the apk file and the progress bar gets to about 3/4 done and then it fails to the message “app not installed”.
Any ideas?
I had the same messages on my Samsung A40 but was able to install.
Really awesome! When I found this thread, I immediately ordered a Lenovo Tab M8 4th Gen., which has the size, that fits for me and was really really cheap. The setup was a breeze!
Two questions left:
1st: Can I see anywhere the state of the battery, whether it is charging or not or runs on the USB-C-connected power supply?
2nd: How will I get updates in the future? Automatically or do I have to initiate this?
Thanks a lot!
Joerg
I purchased an inexpensive Android tablet from Amazon. It is running Android 13 and the tablet is a Tab K10 model from AIProtablet. I have tried the setup multiple times and it has failed each time.
I am able to scan the QR code from the startup screen as described. It then prompts me to connect to WIFI, which I do. It then thinks for a bit displaying a screen saying “Getting your tablet ready… this may take a few minutes”. Eventually I get a screen stating “This device belongs to your organization To learn more, contact your IT admin.” There is a next button on this screen that I select. I then get a screen stating “Getting ready for work set up…” The device thinks for a bit and then the installation fails with a pop up stating “Can’t set up device Couldn’t install the admin app.” My only option is to reset the device from this pop up.
What are my options?
I am having the same issue, did you resolve this?
I’m having the same issue. Did you resolve this?
are you connected to standard internet? i.e not firewalled or blocked somehow.
you could try portable hotspot from your phone maybe to rule out your home internet connection?
Out of interest do you have a single white line on the right side of the screen?
For 2nd question, at this point you have to factory reset and reinstall to put updates on, but as you noted it’s easy to setup so not so bad.
No. I’ve tried everything. I even tried to connect to the Internet via a hot-spotted phone, to rule out my firewall. Still no go. I think that the app still needs work as there are many people experiencing the same issue.
