I have 2 gx devices and the software keep loading both GX’s in my network in sequence. The result is that the screen is more in the loading condition than the displaying condition. How to fix the software to show only one GX permanantly?
I had v.1.0.0 running for some days on my Galaxy Tab A10. But it still runs into the reload/restart screen at least once a day.
I’ll temporarely switch back to Cerbo Remote Console view via browser. But however, I’ll keep an eye on it and will test new versions.
Update 02.06.2025
Until last week, I had my Cerbo connected only via WiFi. I have now connected it via LAN. After that, I tried the app again. Unfortunately, it still goes into the reload/restart screen once a day or more often. At least it was worth a try.
We are looking into it. Are the GX Raspberry Pi running Venus OS?
Great to hear that you are looking into it! Yes both are RPI’s running venus OS.
Works nice. when switching WiFi network on tablet and Venus GX it can not automatically reconnect. In the service menu you need to re-detect the venus GX and reconnect. Just a tip when someone has this problem,
Hi,
Indeed, I discover that few daus ago too !

What a great idea to extend the wired GX displays. So universal and flexible. Great job, Victron . Thank you!
I bought a Samsung X110 Galaxy Tab A9, 8.7’’ (Android 14, One UI 6.1). OS and App Setup works exactly as described: QR Code, Country, Language, WiFi, gxDisplay App. Took only a few minutes, no problems. Love it
An optional smart wakeup would be great detecting (estimated) presence.
Such an extra display is a great peripheral for future GX firmware extensions. Providing information to DESS like “EV charge state needed”, “vacation”, “unusual high consumption expected”, for example.
6 posts were split to a new topic: Fixing Update Errors On Sony Xperia Z2 for Android display
The network connection could perhaps “go to sleep” with the device causing a reconnection on wake, but that should not be case when returning from the settings menu.
Irrespective, throwing an error for a non-fatal condition never makes for a pleasant user experience.
Why not just display Reconnecting… ?
Using A Lenovo tab 8, when on house Wi-Fi it works perfectly, it is an excellent product. However we are having issues when on Wi-Fi direct to cerbo, with the screen set to always on. If we tap power button to put table to sleep, and leave it over night, it wont reconnect to the cerbo and we have to open service menu and reconnect cerbo wifi and then reconnect to device. Is there away to switch the screen off but still have the tablet working in the back ground, so as to not require to reconnect to wifi and device each time
Welcome.
Just wondering: Did you set the IP address in your router as fixed, so the tab will always have the same IP address?
Its in a caravan and we are not using a router, it’s connected to cerbo by wifi direct.
Andriod tablet settings allow to check, alway reconnect but when connected the Android tablet states it won’t auto reconnect.
Possibly because thers no iternet connection.
If we link it thru our workshop router, it auto reconnect all the time, but if only connected to cerbo with wifi direct and no external router it won’t auto reconnect. So if tablet is in sleep for to long or the power to the cerbo is disconnected, it wont reconnect without going back into wifi settings.
How was the app installed, via QR code or the apk? If you have installed it via QR code you can try to connect to the wifi via the app wifi settings instead of Android settings menu. Also try forget the password of the workshop wifi.
Some Android models do not reconnect to wifi networks thad do not have internet. If the above doesn’t work you can try to disable dhcp/automatic configuration for that wifi network. It might help.
I have always used an ESP32 usb dev kit as local router in my camper. GitHub - martin-ger/esp32_nat_router: A simple NAT Router for the ESP32. It enables you to make a router for only a few euros/dollars. And it does provide an uplink to the internet if you drive into your workshop’s router range. It can be powered from a free usb port on your system. Don’t expect high bandwidth for a 3 euro router but it is good enough for these applications.
Hi I tried to install the file I find here “https://bit.ly/gxDisplay” because I can’t use the QrCode method. The application installs and initially goes into configuration but then it tells me that the application has suddenly exited and from that moment it always says this. I have a tablet where Android 6.0 is installed. Could it work? Thanks
Hi,
based on my kowledge ot the App the tablet must be with Android 8 !
In your case Android 6 is not compliant !
