NEW: Use an Android tablet as dedicated GX Wi-Fi Display (beta)

Confirm :slightly_smiling_face: Excellent quality and display size for a reasonable price.
[Update: 18.06.2025]: Running now for multiple weeks, no issues at all.

Maybe just one ā€œcosmeticā€ finding: After wakeup, it shows the last information before going to standby - just for a second, starts re-connecting and shows correct view after re-connect. Maybe staying with your logo and a tiny ā€œreloadā€ animation would be better instead of the outdated information

Same here:

  • Galaxy Tab A9. Appmode (not kiosk). Currently testing with simcard + Tailscale + AirDroid / AirMirror. Not sure yet about the AirDroid part for commercial reasons (will explore other free open source options) but looking good so far for remote monitoring E-boat system (VictronConnect App as well as Gui.v2). Does need some serious debloating because, well, Samsung.
  • Lenovo Tab M9. Also good if you can find them, nice protector/stand included but no sim.

Hello.
I’m using a Android 6.0 phone, QR code install does not work, but the GX app does after a .apk manual install.
What you can try :

  1. Turn WiFi OFF (keep pushing more that 5 secs on bottom left of the screen, then …)
  2. Assign manually the IP address of the GX device
  3. Turn WiFi ON
I think that Android 6.0 is missing some API’s to allow the app to scan the network and find GX devices, but with a manually assigned IP address, it is working.

In the picture above why are there 3 bars in the chart to the left of 709 W? Is this a feature I do not understand or a bug?
You won’t see the 3 bars when the GUI is reloaded and after some time the additional 2 bars will appear again. For my Victron system I have never seen these phantom bars in the VRM remote console. They only appear in this app.

Edit:
Ok, it seems to be a feature. I have now seen the same behavior in the VRM remote console. It might be some kind of history changing every 5 minutes.

Great stuf, I just set it up on a Samsung Tab A6 SM-T580. Worked first time, very good. I can’t get the service menu to open.

Hi Thanks for accepting me on the community.
I am about to buy a cerbo 2 and touch screen but the length of the HDMI cable is a problem .I need about an 10m extension.
Could this wireless Wifi be a solution?
However I only have apple devices old iPad mini and iPhones. Is there a version for Apple products coming?
Thanks in advance for advice.

Hi,
Yes, it will solve your problem. In fact, this was one of the main use cases that led us to create this solution.

There are no plans to release an iOS version in the near future. However, there are very affordable Android models that will work perfectly for this purpose, even a second hand device could be sufficient, as relatively old Android versions are supported. You can read user feedback in this thread to find a model that best suits your needs.

This is great! I installed this on my Pixel 2xl and One Plus X that have been sitting in a drawer looking for a purpose. Purpose found! I had thought about using a Pi but didn’t feel like setting one up.

Hallo, I have loaded the apk on tablet running andriod version 14. My problem is that it seems that I can’t change the screen saver off and after 1 minute the screen will go blank. Also seems that I can’t go out of the app (close app) so that I can access the os and perhaps do factory reset. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Have you accessed hidden setting screen? Press and hold for 7 sec or so bottom LH of screen.

Thanks everyone for participating in this thread, it has been a huge success, by far the biggest in the history of the community.
