Apologies should there be an obvious answer to this, but I’m not seeing it above. Consider me wet behind the ears.
I’m one having problems with an HDMI extension on a Touch 50 and need to replace it, as there’s no realistic option for relocating it. I’ve played with this dedicated app a bit on an older Android phone, it’s working great. However, in doing so I discovered the hot spot capability of the Cerbo GX - something I wasn’t aware of prior. So, I also tried things using a stock Samsung tablet running Remote Console pointed at venus.local.
From a Victron perspective and limited testing, I see no difference between the two. Is there any functional difference between the two methods as it relates to Victron display and control? I can certainly see the need for many for a dedicated display to replace the Touch50, but for my use, having additional non-Victron functions on the tablet might be preferable.
I’m using it with a Venux GX Device, remotly connected to its hotspot and it Is workIng fine, with all interface features and access.
This is indeed a solution as remote display in addition of the Touch’s !
I have an old android 7 Nokia smartphone .
I succeed to load kiosk mode and pair the gx(is a raspberry pi with last release official large) I have error loading web and sometimes the black Victron energy screen with loading…
Is still in the beta the feature?
How can I get a hotspot from
Venus os?
Great tool, really promising. However, is there any chance of sending the battery charge level of the tablet in use to the MQTT from Venus or any other broker? The current status can now be displayed at the top right.
I use something like this in my own solution (tablet with a kiosk app) to access the charge level and control a Shelly via NodeRed. This keeps the charge level between 20 and 80% and I don’t have the device constantly connected to the power supply. Additionally I publish further data like GPS and other available details provided by the tablet.
Hi, what a great feature! I tested it on a cheap Pritom 7” pad and it works almost perfectly well.
However, I noticed that if the device is in sleep mode for a while (display off) and then reactivated, I only see a standard Android interface on which I can do nothing else. No display of the Virctron interface. The long keystroke at the bottom left still works, but even there it does nothing when I select “reload web”.
Only a restart brings me back to the Cerbo display…
Good day,
I have noticed another thing, the time is displayed incorrectly, whereas it is configured correctly in the settings and is displayed correctly there:
Worked perfectly on a cheap Walmart ONN 7”tablet. Only problem I see is it doesn’t have a screen timeout. Depending on how I mount it I might not have access to the side buttons to turn the display on and off.
I’m interested in this as well. Still looking at mounting options. If possible I can clear the area on the wall mount to get access to the buttons, but that’s not ideal.
How would updates to this software be handled? In regards to screen timeout, I wonder if the Android “double tap to wake” functionality could be added. That would be a great addition without having to have access to the buttons or to leave the display on constantly.
Great!!! Love this sistem!!! I bougth a second hand Galaxy Tab A7 Lite and the system works perfect!!!
Just will be great to be able to run some other apps like Youtube, Spotify, and some other multimedia apps to take advantage to have a 8" screen on the van!!! Think about it ;P!!
Well, you could disable the victron app to run in kiosk mode, when you used the install method vis QR-code…or when using the manual install mode via APK file, there is no kiosk mode active anyway.
Ooo i don’t know it’s possible to run like an app! And it show de victron UI like the kiosk mode?? I will give a try! Where can I get the last version of the app??
Thank’s!
Edit: I found the link and work perfect!!! that’s what i was looking for!!! Thank You very much!!
Just installed on new android 10" tablet and came across a couple things and wonder if there is a solution or if it is being fixed in next version.
Time is off, despite both the raspberry Pi4 and tablet having the correct time. The time displayed on the brief does not match. This happened on another tablet I tried as well.
There is a slim white line to the right side of screen in dark mode.
Possible to change orientation 180 degrees? due to where the usb power port is it would be nice to be able to rotate screen. Tablet autorotates when booting but when Victron program starts it defaults to one view.
