Hi all, probably a really simple question, but I can’t seem to find a clear answer. I have a MP2 8000VA and I want to know the internal temperature. My MP2 came with the ASS000001000 temp sensor, and from my understanding this can be used to achieve what I want? However, looking in the MP2 manual it says that the M10 copper tube terminal must be fitted to the negative terminal of the battery.
Questions:
Is that refereeing to the negative battery terminal within the connections area of the MP2? If so, will this report the temperature of the battery or the location of the sensor (I’m sure its the ambient temperature at the negative terminal but just checking).
Where exactly do the two wires on the other end of the temperature sensor connect to? Is that somewhere on the MP2 or is that one of the Temp I/O ports on the Cerbo?
Once installed correctly (based on responses to Q 1 and 2), I assume the Temperature reading will be available as a Widget on the VRM and also will come through into Home Assistant via the MQTT integration that I already have setup?
It only needs to be connected to the battery if you want the battery temperature. Otherwise, place it where you want to measure. It can connect to either the MP2 or the Cerbo. I’d connect it to the Cerbo.
I think the only thing it can do if connected to the MPII is temperature compensated battery charging (lead acid). In my experience, there’s no way to see the temperature sensed by the MPII in either VRM or Node Red.
So I’ve plugged the temperature senor into the Cerbo on temp input 1 and I can see the temperature reading coming through into VRM, and Home Assistant, which is great!
Where is the best place to position the sensor so I get the most accurate temperature that the MP2 is reaching?
At the top of the multi just above the exhaust of the multi, my one is just above the multi in mid air to get a reading without that casings metal work adding to it of speeding it up prematurely plus no issues with warranty this way. I also monitor the positive cable the plant room and my HA server and Shelly temp and Humidity for the battery racks
