My fundamental question is: Which temp sensor is used for the MPPT option: “low temperature cutt-off”?
I have multiple MPPTs (all low temp cutt-offs are set to the same value). I realize some MPPTs have a built in temp sensor.
I have a MultiPlusII with a connected VE.Bus Smart dongle which also has a built-in temp sensor.
My Cerbo GX has a connected temp sensor that I use to monitor the temp near a negative battery bus bar.
On the VRM I see the Cerbo connected sensor (instance [24]) with continuous, meaningful updates.
I also see an instance (battery temperature [276]), which must be coming form the VE.Bus Smart Dongle. However, it is typically not showing data. If it does, it only displays a horizontal line with a blue dot.
I know the MultiPlusII and VE.Bus Smart Dongle also have connections for external temperature sensors (which I am not using).
So, I am wondering, which temp sensor is used for the low-temp cut-off setting in the MPPTs? DVCC is disabled.
Thank you!
Welcome.
You should probably look at the Cerbo manual and DVCC.
Move the temp senor to the battery and let STS send temp data to mppt’s and Multi.
Thank you for your response!
I answered my question after some more digging and testing. The temperature value for the MPPTs and low temp cut-off is provided by the VE.Bus Smart Dongle.
Also: I observed that the MultiPlusII has to be in a non-off state for the VE.Bus Smart Dongle to transmit temperature information to the VRM. Hence the “no data to display” or vertical line with a dot display.
