So we got grid connected and trying to AC couple / Export to Grid trying with 1x test unit first before doing all the parallel units tried for a few days now as soon as ESS is installed through ve config the Grid tied inverters that were working AC coupled with the PV inverter assistant installed stop working yes all the other assistants have been since removed I wish I backed them up I can see the output hz going from ~48hz to 53+ hz so the inverters refuse to start up because they are faulting if I use ve config , it shows Grid is connected 50.1hz stable and 240v stable if I use VenusOS is says grid is disconnected and just draws power from battery multiple relays are constantly flipping I can not find any option inside ESS to enable AC2 edit this is apparently because grids refusing to connect (before I just had relay assistant keep AC2 permanently on ) gave up getting AC2 output to work and moved AC coupled Inverters over to AC1 I tried lowering freq shift cutoff hz to 52.9 so it did not pass the 53hz threshold and AC coupled inverters still refused to sync last config was like this TAB: General System frequency 50Hz Shore current 10.0 A Overruled by remote checked Dynamic current limiter unchecked External current sensor connected (see manual) unchecked State of charge when Bulk finished 85.0 % Battery capacity 190 Ah Charge efficiency 0.80 TAB: Grid Country / grid code standard Australia A: AS/NZS 4777.2:2020 stand alone app. M (with N-bypass) AC input 1 Above selected gridcode plus LOM B (compliant) TAB: AS/NZS4777.2:2020 Australia A (Stand alone appendix M) Volt-Watt curve voltage V1 207.0 V Max charge power at V1 20 % Volt-Watt curve voltage V2 215.0 V Max charge power at V2 100 % TAB: Inverter PowerAssist unchecked Inverter output voltage 240 V Inverter DC shut-down voltage 46.00 V Inverter DC restart voltage 48.00 V Low DC alarm level 48.00 V Do not restart after short-circuit (VDE 2510-2 safety) unchecked enable AES unchecked TAB: Charger Enable charger checked Weak AC input unchecked Stop after excessive bulk unchecked Lithium batteries unchecked Storage mode unchecked Use equalization (tubular plate traction battery curve) unchecked Charge curve Adaptive + BatterySafe Absorption voltage 57.60 V Float voltage 55.20 V Charge current 70 A Repeated absorption time 1.00 Hr Repeated absorption interval 7.00 Days Maximum absorption time 5 Hr Temperature compensation -64.8 mV/deg TAB: Virtual switch TAB: Usage Virtual switch usage Do not use VS TAB: Assistants TAB: Assistant Configuration ESS (Energy Storage System) (size:1835) *) System uses Gel or AGM batteries *) The battery capacity of the system is 190 Ah. *) Sustain voltage during the first 24 hours of sustain 48.00 V. Hi could this be the problem: [image] Inverter Clicking every 4 minutes, output drops briefly, then rapid relay clicks DIY Hi everyone, I’ve just received a new Multiplus 2-GX and have encountered an issue during testing. I connected a battery, applied 240Vac to the input, and connected a 30W light to the output. The inverter powers the light initially, but approximately every 4 minutes, it makes a clicking sound, the light blinks briefly, and then a series of 3–4 rapid clicks follow. This same behaviour happens even with no load connected to the output. Has anyone experienced something similar or have any idea …

yeh they do that as well and its every 60 sec for me also found out these do not work on AS/NZS 4777.2:2020 settings but would work if they were on AS/NZS 4777.2:2015 settings the grid password is apparently ■■■■■■■■■■■■ ? when I was on the windows laptop I could not find it got back to my Linux box and first thing it spat out was T P W M B U 2 A 4 G C C so now unsure for QLD AU if its AC Neutral path not externally joined or AC Neutral Path externally joined AI spat out in Australia, when using a Victron MultiPlus-II inverter/charger, the correct grid code setting is “AC Neutral Path not externally joined”. also what are the A,B,C options anyhow ? AI spat out Australia A is for large, interconnected power systems, Australia B is for smaller, interconnected systems, Australia C is for isolated or remote power systems Australia A: This setting is typically used for large, interconnected power grids, such as those found in Victoria and the eastern states (NSW, ACT, Queensland). so I should have been in the right settings Australia A: AS/NZS 4777.2:2020 stand alone app. M (no N-bypass ) but I have also seen AI always spiting out answers that are actually flipped , so regardless 50:50 chance of being right or wrong :S [image]

looks like its still doing it it willl pass through the grid , ac couple with the PV inverter then it will decide to top up battery then go inverter disconnect grid then does 53hz and kill the PV inverter instead of passing through the grid i am trying to configure it to only top up battery to 48V from the grid as a maintained voltage but then it thinks this is the max 100% also why is it trying to charge battery when its near full instead of sending to grid ? and why is when setting sustain voltage to 48v that then becomes its 100% ? VenusOS_b827ebec168c_inst_ttyUSB0_Interfaces_Mk2_Tunnel (2).rvsc (6.3 KB) VenusOS_b827ebec168c_inst_ttyUSB0_Interfaces_Mk2_Tunnel (1).rvsc (6.4 KB)

and then if i bump up the sustain voltage to 52v it just keeps charging from the grid however on the AC coupled PV inverter it is saying its generating 70w but victron not showing any data ? (I thought it was in grid fault mode again ) pretty much as far as I know the earths are connected their is a lead that runs from the mainhouse to the annex then another junction that leads to the shed where the inverters are then the fish tanks etc all run directly from the inverters their is a separate switch board that feeds the AC input then another separate switchboard that the AC output from the inverters are connected to is their meant to be a Neutral Black wire linking the switchboards ? all I see is the earth linked Australia QLD AI Overview In a Victron MultiPlus-II AC-coupled system in Australia, the AC input and output neutrals must be bonded together, but this is typically handled by the device’s internal circuitry, not a direct connection from input to output. The MultiPlus-II has an internal relay that bonds the neutral and ground (earth) when it switches to inverter mode, creating a local neutral and ground bond for the connected loads. This internal bonding is crucial for proper operation of downstream safety devices like RCDs (Residual Current Devices). Key points about wiring and neutral bonding: Internal Bonding: The MultiPlus-II typically handles the neutral-to-ground (N-G) bond internally when it switches to inverter mode, creating a local “micro-grid”. AC Input Protection: The AC input must be protected by a fuse or circuit breaker, sized appropriately for the input current. AC Output: The AC output should be wired to your distribution board, ensuring proper connections for phase, neutral, and earth. No Direct Neutral Connection: You should not directly connect the AC input neutral to the AC output neutral. The MultiPlus-II’s internal relay handles this. Parallel Systems: In parallel or split-phase systems, the wiring for each phase should be symmetrical (same length, type, and cross-section).

then I disable the battery charger and it still tries to charge from grid wtf ? all I want is excess solar to export to grid , why is it always trying to charge battery and when battery full then dissconnect PV inverter ? [Screenshot from 2025-06-18 11-09-24] disablecharger.VenusOS_b827ebec168c_inst_ttyUSB0_Interfaces_Mk2_Tunnel.rvsc (6.3 KB) no matter what I do it just wants to charge the batteries never had issues like this with el-cheapo chinese inverters all I had to do with them was set never charge from grid unless battery under x voltage and stop charging from any source when battery reached x voltage and the AC export would dump the rest of the excess solar to to grid and I left the dedicated mppt’s charge the batteries full [Screenshot from 2025-06-18 11-46-14] [Screenshot from 2025-06-18 11-53-33]

also noticed something else only the OLD GUI is showing PV Inverter production

and put in inverter only mode it still keeps trying to charge batteries .. and kills grid connection so no way to export .. ffs [Screenshot from 2025-06-18 13-00-39]

am I mean to have DC export on ? [Screenshot from 2025-06-18 14-46-51]

and I did just find this Configure Grid Feed-in: Set it to “No” or “DC Coupled Grid Feed-in No”: This setting will prevent the system from charging the batteries using solar power when they are already full or when a specific SoC (State of Charge) is reached. Alternatively, set a high negative grid setpoint: This forces the system to export any excess solar power to the grid. but it still just wants to charge 100% batteries … [Screenshot from 2025-06-18 15-24-21] [Screenshot from 2025-06-18 15-24-12]

so now that its the end of the day i got it exporting again using a option it said not to use with ESS ? prooritizeothernergysources.VenusOS_b827ebec168c_inst_ttyUSB0_Interfaces_Mk2_Tunnel (Copy).rvsc (6.3 KB) but its pretty much back to the same settings as last time when battery voltage creeps up it will disconnect the AC coupled PV inverter even tho its ~ 49v out if the 56/57v it normally sits at if fully charged in the summer [Screenshot from 2025-06-18 15-51-32] so how the heck do you get ESS to folow its own darn rules ??? all I want is grid to charge battery if under 50% and leave the rest to the dedicated MPPT chargers (~30x 30A each having their own 1kw solar strings 4x 250w pannels ) and to export all PV inverter solar , as a have a few hundred micro inverters [image] Multiplus- make it not charge batteries? I've got a Multiplus 24 2000 and it works very well. The problem I'm having is I lose all of the solar generated energy at the end of the day (let's say 2 kW) after switching from "Inverter" to "On". "On" will fully charge the battery and supply...
