Inverter Clicking every 4 minutes, output drops briefly, then rapid relay clicks

Hi everyone,

I’ve just received a new Multiplus 2-GX and have encountered an issue during testing. I connected a battery, applied 240Vac to the input, and connected a 30W light to the output.
The inverter powers the light initially, but approximately every 4 minutes, it makes a clicking sound, the light blinks briefly, and then a series of 3–4 rapid clicks follow.

This same behaviour happens even with no load connected to the output.

Has anyone experienced something similar or have any idea what might be causing it? Any suggestions for diagnostics or next steps would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

Hi did you program it to the right grid code?

It looks like it refuses grid

Thank you for your help.
I am in Australia and this is what I’ve selected:

@fab10 What firmware version are you on as in the 510 release some changes were made as below. Your firmware does not seen to match the latest.

@ ejrossouw mine does that as well every 60 seconds and its saying its the latest version ? 498
but according to you 510 is ?

also where do you find the change logs ?

I only see program change logs not the 500 series change logs ?

oh this looks promising

so the web portals giving me firmware update options

Are your AC In and AC Out Neutrals actually joined?
(that’s what is required by that grid code)
Any VE.Bus error codes appearing in the MultiPlus ‘Advanced’ details on the GX device?

no completely different circuits

however just did a firmware update to v556 and its finally doing pass-through
its night time now hoping AC coupling working again tomorrow

doing the same BS today

also have tried disabling charging batteries and it still just wants to do its own thing and charge batteries instead of exporting

just glad I finally learnt how to remotely configure without the laptop instead of pulling the mk3 in and out of the VenusOS and laptop ..

Thanks @Dean_Commodore that must’ve been my problem. No errors on the ve.bus but I didn’t have the neutrals joined (I assumed that N-bypass meant bypassed in the inverter).
It seems to be working fine now.

Firmware version 556, it seems to be working fine now, wiring mistake

@fab. Glad it is solved. Sign up to Victron Professional (free) for firmware logs and other useful info. Victron Energy - Victron Professional

interesting everyone else is telling me not to do that

got a photo of what you did? ,
did you actually physically connect the neutrals of AC in and AC out ?

the manuals provided did not really show much of anything so its hard to force an electrician to do anything else

and the only pictures I have found do not show them bonded
if anyone has a link to the correct wiring I am all ears

no dots on the wire over laps showing a connection AC in and the AC outs seem to be separate ?

I can see the firmware but where are the change logs for the firmware ?
