I have a Multiplus 12/1600/70 and have a question that I hope can be answered by the experts here
If I have the MP switched to “OFF” and then connect 240v shore power, will it supply 240v to the outlets that come from the “out” side of the MP or does the unit need to be switched “ON” prior to connecting shore power.
In my configuration 240v shore power comes into the van from the CB panel then only via the MP before the 240v outlets, If I need 240V in the van with the MP switched to “OFF” do I actually need a direct feed from the CB box.
I guess what I am asking is with the MP set to “OFF” in any scenario I will not have 240v power at the plug outlets. (Obviously not inverted power)
Ian
Setting the switch to off shuts down the outlet 240V power.
Setting the switch to charger only charges the battery and provides outlet 240V, but if the shorepower goes off, it will not swap to inverting so the 240V outlet goes off.
Best option is to run it in charger only mode. Having a simple bypass switch around the MP can have some serious safety concerns if it is left on like making your shore socket on the van live when inverting or connecting shore power to the MP outlet when inverting.
Thanks for that, another maybe “dumb” question if I may, If I connect the 240v shore power first, before turning the MP on or to charge, will it detect the supply, or is it always best practice (when not in storage) to just leave it “ON” or “Charge” thus ready for any 240v shore application.
By the way I am running a BMS2.
Apologies for being a little confused.
It does not matter which way, it works both ways. I successfully connect the shorepower with the inverter already on some times and others I have the shorepower already plugged in and then turn the inverter on. In both cases, the MP measures the shorepower and confirms that it is acceptable before connecting it to the the output.
