I have a boat with a 500 ah AGM house battery bank. I want to upgrade to LFE 800 ah for less generator time while at anchor. My system has a Centaur 100 and a Multiplus 12/3000/120 but the boat builder says they disable the charge portion of the multiplus and only use the inverter and rely on the Centaur for charging. With my bigger bank design, my c-rate is a bit low and I wanted to use the multiplus to charge the bank along with the Centaur. Any easy way to re-enable the charging function of the multiplus 3000? Just starting out the design and looked into the seemingly overkill for charging capability. Asking the builder he told me they disable it.
The charger settings in the Multiplus have an enable charger box. Hete is a screenshot from the VE Configure program.
In case you do not know how to program the Multiplus see below. Take a backup of settings before any changes and take care over them.
To program a Multiplus use either of the options below, detailed instructions in the links.
- A smartphone using the VictronConnect app with a Mk3 USB interface between the phone and the Multiplus
- A PC/laptop using the VE Configure program with a Mk3 USB interface between the PC/laptop and the Multiplus.
- A PC/laptop using the VE Configure program through a GX device if you have one connected to the Multiplus and the internet.
Thanks very much! Not sure why the builder did that but ill use your instructions. I only have to get back to the boat, in another state, to verify the alternator. On the two Volvo Penta’s one of the engines it has two on them, one is dedicated to the house bank. After that ill design the rest of the upgrades. I also didn’t see any tie in to NMEA yet but am familiar with that and the numerous options from Victron. Thanks again.
