I’m new to Victron, Today i purchased a Multiplus 2 3000 48v as replacement for my Sunwaytech solar battery inverter that wasn’t able to work properly, it was either full on charging of full on discharging which almost caused blowing the main fuses. Now i’m trying to let the Sunwaytech solar SW51B100TW2 communicate with the Victron over VEBus. I’ve selected the Victron protocol in the battery but the victron doesn’t show a state of charge and also charges to the max without stopping. Ive connected the battery to the inverter with the original Victron A cable and selected the 500kb/s protocol.

To enable communication, you’ll need a GX unit such as the Cerbo… The battery is then connected to the BMS CAN via this unit and communicates within the system…
The Multi itself does not have a BMS CAN connection, only a VE-BUS …

Do you have a pinout diagram for the BMS CAN port on your battery? … There’s also the BMS CAN Type B … However, the only difference between the two cables is the ground connection … But it’s possible that your pin configuration is completely different
Well that was easy, i forgot to plug in the terminator plug for the vebus . Now the only problem that remains is that it keeps on charging while the battery is at 100%. This is what i see in my dashboard:

The Multi is currently trying to keep the battery charged according to its settings. You can also send us a screenshot of the system setup—maybe as a simple Paint image.
This is the file i could make. I tried to edit the settings in veconfigure 3 but it doesn’t write the settings to the inverter and when i save the file and try to import it in the vrm remote configure enviroment i get an error about multiple files.
Normally, you download and open the remote configuration via VRM… edit the file and save it… then upload the file again via VRM… a simple process with few hitches…

By the way, you can also adjust the settings here… all four values can be set to 50V (3,125V per Cell) . The old settings date back to the days of lead-acid batteries…
Thanks for all the tips, it now works like a charm. Only get some cell imbalance and high voltage alarms but system works perfectly. At this moment these are the settings:
Both warnings are coming from your BMS and aren’t related to the Victron system at this stage.
Have a look at your DVCC settings in the Remote Console. If the charging voltage is too high and your battery doesn’t have an active balancer with sufficient capacity, one cell’s charging voltage will rise too high and you’ll get these alarms… Try lowering the DVCC voltage a little and keep an eye on the battery…
You must ensure that the charging voltages in VE Configure are set to match your battery … see the datasheet.
If your battery drops below the sustain voltage, the Multi will start recharging to prevent deep discharge. You can also adjust this voltage … The cut-off voltages are the voltages at which the Multi stops discharging the battery, depending on the load … the old settings are still for lead-acid batteries … here too, it makes sense to check the datasheet … In any case, have fun with the ESS and all the settings you can tweak
At this moment i am trying to import data from my noark meter with modbus to the victron with the original victon modbus cable. It turns out the meter sends incompatible data because i get crc, time out and other errors.
Looking at the em24 on ethernet now. Any other tips for a 3p-n direct meter?
It depends on the distance between the meter location and the GX / the system. You could also use an Em540 or Em24 via RS485. The Em24 via Ethernet is prone to system faults …
If you want to use the UTP cable directly, you can use the VE-Can connection from the VM-3P75CT. However, you’ll need enough space for the current transformers in the distribution panel.
If you want to use an EM24 or EM540, you’ll need two wires from the cable and a USB-to-RS485 converter. With the EM24 and EM540, you’d have a display… which the VM-3P75CT doesn’t have.
Ive installed the em540 and its connected to the victron. Measuring is working fine and fast but the victron is very nervous at times, it switches from 1500w charging to 1500w discharge and after a couple of times doing this it runs nice and flat around the 20w setpoint. Do you have any tips on solving this? It looks like this in the homewizard app:
