Configure Battery lifepo4 with victron multiplus ii gx

Hello. I bought this battery, an MF48120 LiFePO4, with BMS communication via an RJ45 cable. I connected everything, but I can’t get the battery BMS to communicate with the Victron MultiPlus II GX inverter.

How can I fix this? Thanks and have a nice day.

Hi, i have no experience with these batterys, and they are not on the compatibility list from victron

However the battery manual states it is compatible with victron, but you need to have a victron type B CAN cable ( order it or make it your self)

Try the can - the one next to the rs485. That is what victron uses.
With a one of the cabkes linked by @DuivertNL
But still not a compatible battery so you may or may not win.
And if you do with with the comms you may also have weird behaviour so it might not be worth it.

Victron Can cables cames in flavours: type A and type B …

Wich brand is the BMS? did you already communicate the bms to your PC, Phone or tablets?

Setting the bms correctly is as important as setting the charger.

@erjoli If you can find the correct CAN pinouts for the port on the battery, you should be able to identify the correct cable to get. Don’t forget the CAN terminator at the Cerbo end and you may also have to adjust the port speed. If that fails, the battery manufacturer should explain how they can claim Victron compatibility and how to make it work.

Hi, I have this RJ45 cable that came with the battery. Is this type of cable okay?

I haven’t tried it with a PC because I don’t know what software to use.
The battery arrived without the user manual.
Thanks everyone for your help.

No you need to make or buy a cable version B as i posted earlier…

You really should read the manual:

And as stated before, the battery is not on the compatibilty list so might work or not..

Thank you. I made a Cabel type B, and now work. Thank you.
