MPPT75/15 Bluetooth connectivity with Victron Connect app via laptop?

Two questions.

  1. Why doesn’t the Victron Connectivity app pair or find my MPPT75/15 It cannot even find it. (at all).
  2. Why does Victron Energy respond to user questions on this precise & clearly articulated subject with the offer of training for agents selling the product instead of explaining the answer on this forum, once & for all. I mean, this is not an isolated issue is it.
  3. What is DESS? (I need 3 categories to post, apologies.)

The windows version only works over usb, not over bluetooth

Has been explained here and is clearly stated in the documentation.

Hi there, thanks for the prompt response Ludo.

  1. The instructions I have do not mention USB, anywhere.
  2. There is no/nil/nada USB connection on my Victron MPPT 75/15 SmartSolar controller. Maybe I have purchased old stock?
  3. Furthermore, when I searched for specific information on this forum the return came back with “No found” or some similar response. What did come back was a suggestion to do a Google search, also “AI” had found a couple of replies which referred to a previous poster (Dave) with the same problem, something I had already read but since it did not answer my question, I am here asking.
  4. PS: How do I attach pictures for effect?
    Blessings.

There is a small 4-pin port called ve.direct, you’ll need a usb interface.

But you can programm the smart controller with a smartphone…

OK Ludo. There appears to be a few versions of this VE interface cable & also similar queries on “other” DIY Solar forums. Go figure.
Moving on, which version should I be using for my laptop with WIN11 & both USB A(?) & the more modern USB “C” ports to choose from.
Having zero-ed in on my exact problem, I do not now wish to recomplicate the issue with the wrong or otherwise “inferior” interface product, therefore any further advice on offer would be appreciated.

Blessings.

PS: And, just in case anyone else out there is as virgin as me, DESS in renewable energy speak means ; Distributed Energy Storage Systems.

If your laptop has usb “c”, then take the original Victron cable in the newer version, your next laptop will not have “a” anymore.

Hi Ludo, I wish to keep this link open until I can report back with positive results.

I have a VE interface cable on order, expected delivery “imminent” but no sign of it yet.

Blessings.
