MPPT RS 450/200 display

I have just installed and connected my MPPT RS 450/200 for the first time.

On VRM it correctly shows each of the 4 trackers charging the battery with voltages, amps and watts readable as well as the total PV charger watts.

However, the MPPT RS 450/200 on its display has very faint lettering showing through a very dark LCD pixels display causing the displayed information to be illegible?

Within the Victron Connect app I see how I can turn the display on and off however that makes no difference at all to the illegibility of the dispaly.

Is this a warranty dead on arrival scenario?

Or is it a setting somewhere?

Yes, I would think so. My 450/200 is runing more than 2.5 years in a row without that issue.

Have Fun

Marc

thank you, my other 450/200 screen works perfectly as well.

I would turn it off, disconnect PV and carefully open the unit, maybe it’s just the ribbon cable to the display.

If you don’t want to do that your self you should contact your installer/seller to get the unit repaired/replaced under warranty.

Thank you

I have a multi rs solar inverter.

after moving the unit around, the display made the same as you are describing.

I opened up the inverter and re-fit the ribbon cable(it was still connected I think it was just not making proper contact) and it worked again.

It took me two minutes.

Just be careful when removing the front cover, the ribbon cable is very short and will easily be damaged if care is not taken

Thank you, I’ll try that.

Good day Matthias

another issue with the MPPT 450/200…….

Since installing my controller, I have renamed the controller twice using Device settings on the TouchScreen/Cerbo.

In my VRM the MPPT shows up with 12 trackers (4 for each name variant)

How do I get this to display only the 4 trackers that in fact exist?

In VRM try deleting the 450 as a device then re-add its available metrics. It should hopefully only show the four current trackers.

Great thank you, Bruce

I went on line VRM and there found the old named MPPT devices, deleted thema and only kept the current named device.

It’s odd how it keeps the old named version as separate devices.

It doesn’t do that with old named versions of the Shunt or inverter, only the MPPT 450/200

It all shows as it should now.

Now I just have to get a replacement MPPT 450/200 so that the screen works as it should.

My dealer said not to open the lid and not to touch anything.

Victron has told them that the screen is not able to be replaced so they will check that it has not suffered water immersion and then send me a new MPPT 450/200.

I will however have to change the PV cable to MC4 terminals as my 450/200 had screw terminals and Victron no longer sell that model.

Hopefully the mount hang bracket is the same.

regards, Daniel
