Hi All,
It’s a long story as to why, but I have been given a replacement Cerbo by Victron and my current Cerbo needs to be returned. There is nothing wrong with the existing one’s functionality, and I would like to migrate my settings/configuration from the current Cerbo to the replacement.
Is there a way to do this?
Shalom
Bill
Hi Bill, have a look at this (might help) at the bottom of the thread…
Replacing the CCGX - DIY - Victron Community (victronenergy.com)
It’s not the site history in VRM I’m wanting to preserve, but the settings in the Cerbo itself. The text of that discussion higher up would indicate that wasn’t possible at the time of the posting.
I’m hoping the October Venus OS update may have added functionality to help
Sorry about that, ok well if it does, please let me know, would be interested too.
This was discussed at How to replace a Cerbo GX with no loss of data - VictronEnergy, 66 people are following, and I too am very interested.
I suspect the closest we can get at this point is described at How to view all Cerbo GX Settings offline? - VictronEnergy (30 people following) which is not officially supported (proceed at your own risk).
@guystewart do you perchance have a ballpark ETA on the Cerbo settings migration solution?
I have 2 x RPI on 2 of my systems. They will periodically corrupt the venus OS and I need to re-image. I have all my settings set up in node red as far charging and ESS settings. So all I need to do is put the SD card in with the new image and enable node red change the time and date and paste my flows.
Hi @zade,
No ETA, and as far as I know it is not specifically under active development and has not been scheduled.
There is a Victron development day planned, and there is a chance that it comes up then and gets more attention.
If there is any good news, the major software architecture changes that happened in Venus OS v3.50 are now done. Those were a blocker to progress.
However there is so much other work still ongoing on v3.x that this specific feature hasn’t been assigned to development (as far as I know).
There is another ‘contributory’ piece of backend infrastructure that is also currently getting developed, which will also greatly help, but I am sorry I can’t be more specific with detail on that before any official announcement.
We are still proceeding towards where this is available, even if the path is a bit tangental.
Thanks for the update. I want to add one more link to this thread for reference:
The most recent relevant comment is from 2021: “After being shortly added to v2.80, this was removed since it needs more work. Moved it to the v2.90 milestone just now.”
While VenusOS is (mostly) open source, we don’t maintain a fully transparent and public issue GitHub.
There is some useful information in that public repo at times, but it is not the primary source for internal VenusOS development discussion.
I would love to see an update on that. I think it’s a very useful feature and their is obviously demand for it.
Hashtag me too;)
Got a replacement Cerbo GX today and checking what i needed to do for keeping settings preserved for the new unit.
