Mopeka Pro Sensor Not Showing Data on Cerbo GX

Hi everyone,

I recently installed a Mopeka Pro sensor to monitor my propane cylinder, but I’m having issues getting any data to show up on my Cerbo GX.

The Cerbo GX detects the sensor, but the level, status, and remaining liters are always showing as “Unknown” or “– %”. The screenshots attached show the current configuration and readings.

Details:

  • Device: Mopeka Pro Sensor

  • Connection: Bluetooth LE

  • Capacity: 27 liters

  • Sensor value when empty: 56.5 cm

  • Sensor value when full: 1.0 cm

  • Fluid type: LPG

  • Butane ratio: 0%

  • Sensor battery: 2.78 V

  • Current temperature: 18°C

  • Cerbo GX firmware: 3.65

Important:

In the Mopeka app, the sensor data is displayed correctly, so the sensor itself is working fine. The issue seems to be related to the integration with the Cerbo GX.

I’ve already checked:

  • The sensor battery is fine.

  • The LPG setup values are correct.

  • The Bluetooth connection seems active.

Questions:

  1. Is there any additional setup required in Venus OS for Mopeka Pro sensors?

  2. Do I need to enable a specific driver or integration?

  3. Has anyone else experienced the same issue with a Mopeka Pro on a Cerbo GX?

Screenshots are attached for reference.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Looking at your settings, it looks like you inverted the values for full and empty. The sensor is on the bottom of the tank right ?

I would agree with @Bifop the Mopeka sensor should be at the bottom of the tank for LPG so empty is a low value and full a high value. The device data is getting to the Cerbo, what is failing is the maths converting this to a % and volume.

Hi everyone,

Thanks for the support so far! I followed the advice and corrected my Mopeka Pro sensor setup — the sensor values for empty and full are now correct, and the percentage and remaining liters are displayed properly on my Cerbo GX.

However, there is still one issue: the status always shows as “Unknown” (see attached screenshots).

Current setup:

  • Device: Mopeka Pro Sensor

  • Connection: Bluetooth LE

  • Capacity: 22 liters

  • Sensor value when empty: 0.0 cm

  • Sensor value when full: 37.0 cm

  • Fluid type: LPG

  • Butane ratio: 5%

  • Sensor battery: 2.75 V

  • Temperature: 16°C

  • Cerbo GX firmware: 3.65

What works:

  • Sensor data is correct in the Mopeka app.

  • Percentage and remaining liters are now displayed correctly on the Cerbo GX.

  • Bluetooth connection is stable.

Problem:

  • The status still remains “Unknown”, even though the sensor is working fine and showing correct readings.

Question:

Is this expected behavior with Mopeka Pro sensors on Cerbo GX, or is there any way to make the status field display properly?

Screenshots are attached for reference.

Thanks a lot for your help!

How old is your Cerbo, what are the first 6 digits of your serial number.

What does your device page shows ?

Try switching it off in “parameters/integration/bluetooth captors” to see If it initialises correctly. That the VRM instance ID is not duplicated one never knows…).

Cerbo GX Serial Number: HQ23074

Unfortunately, switching it off did not help either.

Try 5.0 cm for empty sensor value, I believe the 0.0 cm is making a calculation error thus the status unknown. I’m using 5cm empty and 38cm Full.

It is not one of the 4 to 5 year old Cerbo GXs that had a Bluetooth issue, so that is not an issue. The fact is it working shows it is connected OK.

Changed. Status still unknown.

Cerbo GX is two years old.

Hi @aw1810 , try restarting the GX device, that will clear that Unknown status.

There is a small bug on our side, causing it to not clear by itself after a config issue was sorted by the user/installer.

Thanks for helping to uncover that! Matthijs

Hi Matthijs and everyone,

I just wanted to give an update: after entering the correct sensor values and performing a reboot of the GX device, the status now shows as “OK”. Everything is working perfectly!

Thanks a lot to everyone for the help and guidance!

As a small suggestion: would it maybe be possible to simplify the configuration in the future by adding predefined default values for common LPG tank sizes? That could make the setup a lot easier for new users.

Thanks again!

Good! And thanks for the feedback.

Yes, that would be nice; thanks for the suggestion
