Since upgrading to 3.5x I have found that my Mopeka Pro propane sensors are not showing the same percentage remaining as the app. They are off by quite a bit.
I have checked the settings and everything matches the app, even when I change the app to centimeters remaining, that matches the information on the GX display but when I go back to percentages and look on the display, it is off.
I’m on 3.60~11 and have the exact same readings as well on gx and tank app. It looks like it takes the sensor cm value and the sensor value when full to do the calculation. You can increase the sensor value when full and probably make it match the tank app but, not sure that’s the correct way to handle it.
Mopeka recommended I do a re-sync next time I fill up and ensure the cm levels are the same on the Cerbo as they are on the app. They also said, they have little communication with Victron and are not included in the calculus to obtain the readings.
I will post more when I refill sometime around the first week of Jan in preparation for a trip to FL.
I did a little more digging. Cerbo definitely uses the cm sensor reading from the Mopeka and the sensor value when full to calc percentage. I set the tank app to display cm instead of percentage to verify sensor reading in Cerbo. They are the same. The difference is the way Victron and the tank app calc percentage. Either way I think it’s pretty close based on pressure gauge I have on tank.
I live in FL, weather is nice and warm.
Agree, I checked cm on both and they matched. The difference is how Victron is doing the calculation. I am sure it will either be corrected by Victron soon enough.
We spent Thanksgiving and Christmas last year in FL. Down in the Keys for Thanksgiving and up around Melbourne (Patrick SFB), where I used to live for Christmas. In January we are going to Eglin AFB near FT Walton Beach for a week or so for my wife’s birthday. I should have it sorted out by then.
I live in my 5th wheel full time and have 2 30gal tanks on it. Just put one sensor per tank this week. Seems like it tracks usage pretty good. Not sure which vendor’s calc is correct but, as long as I have an idea of what’s in the tank I’m good. Checking the GX is still better than running out and looking at gauges.
I’m outside Daytona, retired down here about 12 years ago.
I have 2 x Mopeka on vertical 13kg (29lb) propane cylinders and agree that the cm values track, mine are 35.8cm depth when full. What I found though was that on the Cerbo, I got better low level agreement with the Mopeka if I set an empty reading of 3.6cm. The Cerbo level on mine only seems to change in 3% steps and I still have some usage after it reaches 0%.
I am with @tcb62 on this, it is good enough to know and with auto changeover, knowing exactly is not important as long as I know the change is coming up or just happened and it is time to get a new bottle at the next marina.
