Adding a propane level guage on my RV

I would like to add Propane level sensors to my Victron Cerbo GX and Touch 50.

It is on a “new to me” 2020 Airstream Globetrotter with 6 - 100 ah Battleborn batteries, Multiplus, Cerbo gx, Touch 50 and a Victron Solar charger.

I asked Victron but they suggested the forum and they don’t make anything but believe users on the forum can make a reccomendation on an aftermarket item.

Thanks in advance

You need a sensor, or a way to get a sensor into the Cerbo? I think Victron has a resistive adapter. The Garnet SeeLevel tank monitor on RV-C plays very well with the Victron Cerbo.

Look at the Mopeka Bluetooth senders, I have been using these on my boat for over 3 years.

I’m interested in the Mopeka… Do you know if it will talk to the Cerbo without any other interface? I”m hoping it will connect via bluetooth…

Yes, it will connect via BLE (Bluetooth low energy). I do recommend using an external USB BT dongle because the radios and antennas in the GX devices are weak. A $10 TP Link dongle works really well. Amazon.com: TP-Link USB Bluetooth Adapter for PC, Bluetooth 4.0 Dongle Receiver, Plug & Play, Nano Size, EDR & A2DP Technology, Supports Windows 11/10/8.1/8/7/XP for Desktop, Laptop, Keyboard, etc (UB400) : Electronics

I ordered two Mopeka sensors… Going to try without the dongle first and see if the signal will reach.. the Cerbo and Multiplus are mounted up front but the touch display is on the other end of the camper so It likely depends on where the Bluetooth receiver is.. I’m thinking it is on the Cerbo and not the display.

The Bluetooth receiver is in the Cerbo GX. I needed to add a USB Bluetooth dongle for perfect connection as my boat is steel with 2 6mm (1/4”) bulkheads between the LPG locker and Cerbo GX. I am quite amazed I got any connection, but the closest one had a solid connection but the furthest one was lost intermittently.

Definitely worth a try!

Mopeka sensors ordered.. Will let you know in a few days…

I have been using the Mopeka sensors on my propane tanks in three different Airstreams. All coaches have had the Cerbo GX mounted in or near the front. I have never had the need for an external Bluetooth dongle. The Mopeka sensors are a solid dependable way to see your propane level. They directly interface to the Victron system.

Go into the settings page on your display, then sensors, Bluetooth, and they will hook right up. First use the Mopeka app to calibrate your tank size and rename your sensors. My tanks are named LPG Curbside and LPG Streetside (which is what shows up on the touch display).

You can see your propane level remotely if you’re using the VRM application. I think you can also setup alarms on your Touch but have never had the need. The Mopeka sensors make it so easy to check your gas level.

Thank you so much, We traveled for the holidays but I should be able to get this done today or tomorrow and report back.

I have the Guages working on the iphone app.

On the Cerbo Touch, I go to settings but don’t have a Sensors or Bluetooth..

However, it does and has always since I got it set up show 4 fuel tank sensors with open circuit as well as 4 battery temperature sensors that are all showing open circuit? Perhaps this is why it is not showing up?

Did you enable the bluetooth sensors?

My screen does not look like that.. do I need to connect a laptop or use my safari browser to get there?

Thanks..

No, it’s just the GUI-2 output from a Cerbo GX. A browser might work using the IP of your Cerbo: http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx/gui-v2/ I don’t know how that interacts with the Touch.

The BT sensors are under I/O using the old GUI. I’m not sure what firmware version is required.

I’m still working on getting them connected but sidetracked for the time being..
