Iâm already getting a bit nervous.
I recently commissioned my Victron system. And let me tell you, the journey was rocky. Quite literally
. We have a house built in 1996. The electrics are fine, but the distribution board is, of course, no longer up to date.
Accordingly, it had to be completely rebuilt. On top of that, the room where the distribution board is located is also my wifeâs hobby room. So all the PV components had to go in the garage.
So what needed to be done? Run 5x16qmm from the house connection through conduits to the garage and back.
Then install three MultiPlus 2 5000 units and supply the whole house via the PV system. Weâve managed to get all of that done so far, even though the panels are still missing from the roof.
What I find particularly disappointing so far is that the usual installers donât think much of this system and say that nobody needs it. Why do electrical installers who also offer PV systems have such an âaversionâ to Victron? Iâve put it in quotation marks because itâs more a lack of understanding. The Victron system gives me capabilities that most systems donât have.
In general, I get the feeling that most systems are installed without any real thought or purpose. A good friend of mine had no electricity for a day because of roadworks in his street, and was shocked that his PV system didnât supply power to his house. Although this should have been obvious beforehand.
Iâm extremely happy with my three-phase system, and it does exactly what I wanted. The cables are looking a bit tidier by now, too, and Iâm planning to install a 19° enclosure under the MultiPlus units for the Pytes batteries. The plan for the future is to expand to 2x3 Pytes batteries and build up nearly 30 kW of total storage. For now, weâre starting with 10.
Anyway, Iâm looking forward to hearing your opinions on my setup. So far, Iâm very happy with it and Iâm already looking forward to the panels and the battery expansion planned for the future.
