Is it possible to connect my venus OS/raspberry pi to steca tarom4545 using UART

hello,

I have a raspberry pi 3b+ with venus OS and it is connected to my victron mppt controller using USB/vedirect.
it works great.

I wonder if the same raspberry pi venus OS can be also used to be connected using UART to my other controler (steca tarom 4545 that has an open and documented UART interface).

Is there a script feature on venus os or something like that that I could use to control an UART ?

I know I have node red available in venus os

Could it be used to access a peripheral through its UART ? Read values and then write them in a file in a distant folder ?

Victron products are intended to be used together in a Victron system, unless a 3rd party product is specifically supported. There is a modifications section better suited to this question. I however suggest you also check the Victron licensing terms.

Thanks for your answer. I was also wondering if instead of reading UART of the stecca to retrieve voltage of the second battery I could use instead a victron smart shunt.

My problem is that I don’t know it will put a mess in the vrm victron database because I would have a mix between a first network (24v battery +victron mppt) and a second network (12v battery + smartshunt + stecca)

These are separated system and I’m afraid that if I use one Venus os to retrieve all data victron will think it is one system…
