How to measure power consumed by the RV from the land line

Hi everyone,

I want to measure the land line power consumed by my RV.

I do have a MultiPlus 12/3000/120-16 and a CErbo GX.

Would it be possible to use the Victron AC Current sensor for this purpose?
I know that this device is normally used to measure power coming from the solar panel but my take is that this should be possible for measuring the land line as well.

Or is there a different solution possible?

Thanks,
Stefan

The inverter should have some pretty decent measurement capabilities if you have a look.

Yes, but it does not measure all the land line power coming in.

F.e. the heating system of my RV gets its power directly from the land line and the MP has no clue about this. The MP only knows about the power flowing thru it and not power consumed before the AC land line reaches the MP..

The idea is to measure the power right at the land line input socket.

You just have to put loads on the inverter, not before if you want to measure it.

But this would mean that I have to change the wiring of the land line side. And this is something I really want to avoid.

Is there no other solution available?

What? Why?

The inverter has passthrough. A single line and breaker from grid, and all loads on the inverter. You can even use virtual relays to shut the heater off if not connected to grid.

Fit a ct clamp to land line power before it splits to mp & heating, with ct clamp wire into the mp and hey presto the mp will be logging the power you want to monitor.
Or fit a power meter of your choice at desired position.

Shore power should go to the MP FIRST, through the transfer switch and then to your house breaker. Unless you have a 50 amp service and are only powering half the service with the MP. Or have some sort of sub panel set up so that the MP isn’t powering the whole house.
