Failed update on SmartShunt

Issue resolved! For any who come by this…I contacted the seller (Battle Born) and they walked me right through the solution. Note that none of this is laid out in the owners manual (hint hint Victron). If you have a firmware update that fails for some reason:

  • unplug the positive lead from the device to power it down
  • on your phone, “forget” all victron equipment in your bluetooth settings
  • delete the VictronConnect app from your phone
  • shut down / restart phone
  • reload VictronConnect app
  • Re-pair all of your Victron devices through the app when they appear (you’ll need all your bluetooth PIN codes for this)
  • select each device and update firmware as needed (note the radio button in the VictronConnect app to keep your screen from locking out)

Voila. That process should REALLY be included in the owners manual for all of the devices which require firmware updates. That was a frustrating experience, thank goodness for excellent Battle Born technical support!
