ET340 proper wiring

Hello,

for the first time I must use in one Victron PV system installation energy meter ET340. System is installed in one building which is connected to grid (on AC-in side) in parallel with another building, so I add energy meter before split point to measure power from/to grid to achieve proper measuring of power consumption in another building on AC-in side. But results seams that ET340 is connected in opposite way (input vs output).

I used contacts no. 1, 2 and 3 for grid connection and 4, 5 and 6 for connection to split point, from where both building is connected. Is it correct wiring or grid should be connected to 4, 5 and 6 and both buildings to 1, 2 and 3 instead? Unfortunatelly this is not clear from Victron and also CG manual…

Thank you for info!

Normally 1,2 and 3 (top) should be connected to the grid. Then 4,5 and 6 at the bottom go to the inverter(s).

One thing that you forgot to mention here is how you’ve configured it on the Cerbo. Is that as PV or Grid Meter?

It is set as grid meter and multiphase of course.

If I change ESS settings to use external grid meter, then system basically stop production from PV because grid meter still indicates feed-in to grid, which is blocked in settings, and AC loads on AC-in indicates zero on all phases.

If I change it back to use Multis as grid meter, indicated grid power is still wrong (I suppose, that this value is indicated from external meter, but internally system use Multis).

So for me it seems like current/power direction is wrong - ET340 probably indicates power consumption from grid (consumption of second building in parallel with AC-in of Multis and consumption of system with Multis), but in wrong direction, and this is the reason why AC loads is zero. I will rotate meter tomorrow and will see…

I changed wiring of ET340 - it is crazy, because manuals says something different, but now everything is working.
