I am a DIY guy with this project - Two Multiplus II 48/5000/75-50 installed in parallel and connected to two 48V 280Ah Docan power Lithium batteries with Daren BMS (each) also in parallel. Three PV panel systems connected to three Victron smart Chargers. Victron Lynx distributer used for cable connections. All connected to my Raspi 4b with can bus hat and Ve-direct cables for monitoring.
I am now hoping to program the system with ESS but with no feed-in and connected to an energy meter ET112. Since I am located in Malta, there is no country code for us and I think that the “None” grid code should be applied. I require some assistance in this regard and advise if there is a problem in this type of system setup. Can any body help?
As you are also connected to the Italian grid in Crete BUT the Italian grid code prescribes external NA protection … for whatever reason … you are also somehow part of the European grid.
Just take the ‘German grid code’ and look online for the ‘password’ to reset it … but you won’t get it here in the forum!
As you are using an ET112 meter, do you have a single-phase network ?
Yes, I’m am going to use the ET112 meter and for single phase.
Then you just have to be careful not to overload the ‘Main/House connection’ when limiting the input current if both multis are charging … In winter in Malta …
Simply set DC and / or AC Feed into Grid is NOT Allowed in the ESS Menü !
Of course, you have to configure a network with the MK3 interface and install the ESS assistant on the master and slave and enter the necessary data
This is what I want, not to feed in to the grid. Is choosing the German grid code correct for the Maltese grid system? And why should I need the password reset if I enable the German grid code?
as there is no separate grid code for Malta itself and I don’t know what the local regulations are … I can’t recommend anything other than the ‘German Gridcode’ …
Here you can also put a single-phase meter into operation and prohibit the feed-in.
However, a little is always fed back into the grid until the meter ‘stops’.
What kind of meters do you use? Is the feed-in of small quantities permitted or not?
The most obvious ‘Italian grid code’ requires an external NA protection … you have installed a 2-stage ‘internal’ one. This is actually always sufficient … There may not be a certificate for the Multi Plus 2 with internal NA protection.
So … Malta is not Italy … hence the “German grid code”
To reset the grid code, a password query is required in VE-Configure … please don’t ask me why this is not requested when activating but when deactivating … There are things between heaven and earth …
Just search for the password on the net … Forum rules
The energy meters we use in Malta are Italian from Enel, and at the moment I have two energy feed in tariff meters attached to the main one. A photo of the energy meters uploaded.
But now I am replacing the feed in tariff meters with with the ET112 energy meter. The feed in meters have to be removed since the local energy supplier charges rent for them. The AC supply is through my two Multiplus in parallel from their input connection only. Is there any current limiting factor in this regard. Thanks SteffenNetrange for your help.
I cant comment on your location, but in the UK you would only need a grid code set if you system were configured to feed into the grid.
If you were to set one, it would have to be done on the device/s config, using VE Config, not in the ESS module. (So far as I understand our regulations.)
Codes and specific settings aside, I ‘expect’ the structure to be broadly similar in most of Europe but your network operator will almost certainly have online information to tell you what is, and is not, required.
As far as ESS is concerned, my, admittedly limited understanding, is that if the inverter is set to prohibit export, that ESS can’t override that.
I would be verry interested in an better informed opinion, as this has just come up, potentially, with a friends system.
