ESS -SOC - AC OUT 2 Relay

Hi Victron Energy solar enthusiasts and experts !

Sun shines brightly here in lovely Torgny, Belgium

I’m new to ESS config.

Solar Data - Off-Grid Self-Consumption Project
48v 480Ah lead acid battery pack
2,5Kw PV panels
Cerbo-GX
MultiPlus II 48/5000
MPPT RS450
Energy Meter ET112

3 assistants configured via VEConfigure

  • ESS
  • Programmable Relay (1) → AC OUT 2 Relay ON at SOC 99,0%
  • Programmable Relay (2) → AC OUT 2 Relay OFF at SOC 97,0%
(Programmable Relays (1 and 2) to feed a 2Kw a hot water tank resistance)

Quick question here
On Remote Console State Of Charge (SOC) is showing 87,0% while the batteries are fully charged (57,58v).
So AC OUT 2 Relay is never triggered.

How to tell ESS that 57,58v is SOC = 100% ?

Thanks a lot !
Stéphane

Change the charge efficiency and soc when bulk is done in the battery monitor in ve config.

I assume you have no shunt the system otherwise so it can’t tell the system what the soc is other than its internal monitor?

Technically with lead acid it is not fully charged when it reaches target voltage - it is only fully charged when it has been all the way through the absorption stage.

Thanks a lot LX !

That makes sense of course

No Battery Shunt
Does the system need one ?

… and yes indeed … system is still in “Absorption” mode …
