ESS battery support only critical load

Hi,

Seems like i have an issue with ESS. I have Multiplus II GX.

The battery do not support normal loads. It seems to supply critical loads only.

I do have all system loads selected

I have grit set point as 50W

I simply do not understand why its not feeding.

I confirmed items on the checklist 10.9 Q9 from ESS_design_and_installation_manual-pdf-en.pdf

  1. SOC to low - not the case
  2. CAN-bus connection disconnect battery - not the case i have not networked BMS
  3. ESS relay test - not the case it is completed
  4. disable feed-in. Im in Australia but on “grid” tab I have no option to use aux 1 plus I have nothing connected to aux1 or aux 2 as well
  5. Rocker switch is on ON
  6. I did not try disabling LOM… if it will work while disengaged LOM it wont get me the solution.

I ran out of ideas

Please advise

I have chaneover swich so I put all loads on critical and inverter is working

you were in “charger mode” not in “inverter mode”. System did what you’ve told to do

I wish it was that easy. The physical toggle is on ON. The virtual in on ON
It there another place to change it?

is the physical switch on position I or II ?

“I”

sorry for the quality is dark already.

What verisons are you running?
How are you metering the AC loads?
What grid code is in use?

See below schematic where the meter is

Im on grid code Australia B im in Western Australia

Did you tell your system, that it should handle loads on ac-in too ? → System-Setup → AC-System → Position

I think so.

There is no solar in your system. Those ESS functions aren’t going to work well without any.
Are you running this with DESS?

ok … which energymeter do you use ? Is ESS configured to use the external meter ?

I do have solar. Refer to the diagram i’ve posted before.
I intend it as a kind of hybrid system.
charge batteries where power is cheap 9-15
do not use batteries if there is solar 8-9 and 15-16
use batteries outside those times

I dont want to sell energy

I use ET112. It is reading correctly.

But there is no Solar/PV inverter shown on VRM.
So if it does not know its there, ESS will not operate correctly.

I have no option to communicate with the solar inverter. Is another ET112 essential to capture solar?

Sorry to ask but: where did you geht that Informationen from ? I’ve got a lot of working ESS without PV Accounting. ESS uses the net meter to charge or discharge the Battery. Where the engergy come from does not matter. Only thing that is not working is solar Accounting in VRM or DESS.

Seems like labeling negative energy “solar” doesn’t matter. ESS still works and it is using power accordingly to grid setpoint.

Re issue im heaving the grid code seems to be a problem.

I need to revert to 2015 and adjust max voltage to 255V to be compliant with 2020
That wont be a problem as my grid is usually 245-250V.

I will update tomorrow

You don’t need solar to use some ESS features, but some features do require it, like exporting, though you can force that via grid setpoint.
This all assumes everything is configured correctly.
It certainly isn’t best practice to not have PV inverter generation visible.
The more you vary from best practice, the more likely you are to have an issue.
This, like many topics, appears to be a configuration/setup issue.
Something that is not easy to diagnose remotely over the internet.

Changing grid code worked. ESS supporting loads on the input.

Re solar not showing up im thinking to connect soler inverter to output 1 and pass through multiplus. Correct me if im wrong here please.

At the moment 800W showing up in the system mysteriously
