Ekrano GX Screen Frozen

I have a battery storage installation for a solar powered light tower that incorporates a MPPT, Multiplus inverter, Smart Shunt, and an Ekrano GX. Recently I saw a message on the Ekrano GX screen that a firmware update was starting, and since then, the screen has been blank white and seems to be frozen after booting back up. The system remains to function in the background, and power cycling the system/ device does not fix the issue.

The firmware version updated from v3.34 to v3.67. The other 11 units still have v3.34 and the Ekrano functions as it should.

I tried installing v3.34 SWU file onto a USB and plugged it into a USB slot on the Ekrano, but this did not work when booting it up to force a re-install of the old firmware version. Not sure if I’ve missed a step or done this incorrectly?

Has anyone run into this before, and how did you fix it?

Try doing a factory reset following the process in the Ekrano GX manual. That’s resolved the issue for me in the past. Good luck!

Thanks for the feedback!

I/we were not the ones that originally configured the Ekrano GX for this system. Not knowing how difficult/ simple it is to configure, is there a way to copy that configuration over from one of the other 11 units we have?

@guystewart Guy, Sean has a question about saving and applying VenusOS settings. Thank you.

Hi @smcculloughq

Unfortunately at this time there is no way to back up and restore the settings of a GX device.

I hope it comes at some point in the future, but there is no timeline for it.

This is a bit more information here.

On the VRM Portal I see an option on the left hand side to “Upload GX File”

Can I save the GX file from another one of the identical installations, then upload that file over to the unit I factory reset?

That is for uploading data (telemetry) files to vrm.

Thanks all for your help!
