Wondering if somebody experienced a USB-RS485 converter issue.
This one looks like a legit Victron branded packaging+code, FTDI USB-RS485 converter.
As installation requires ~20 meters of cable, the original has been trimmed to 20cm, as instructed here, and extended with CAT5e. The red, +5v power lead has been separately insulated.
Upon connecting the USB in MPII-GX, the GX got stuck in a reboot loop, removing the converter led to correct system boot. All checks revealed no issues in cable.
Taking the converter to a desktop computer immediately showed “Power surge on the USB port“. Definitely something wrong with this adapter
