ET112 Multiplus II

Dear all, I try to connect ET112 from Carlo Gavazzi to multiplus II.
I have RS485/USB converter, which I lugged to multiplus, and of course to ET112.

There sometimes TX is blinking which is a sign that multiplus send something, but never RS is blinking. I connected this converter to other RS485 multimeter and it worked.

It is also strange that during searching option, no LED is blinking.

Do I have I somehow install this converter on multiplus? if yes how?

The ET112, or any grid meter, needs to be connected to a GX device. The multiplus on its own cant communicate with a grid meter, see 2. Installation and configuration

Edit: are you using a multiplus with an integrated GX device?

@chrigu thank you for answer! Yes, I have Multiplus with integrated GX.

According to all info which I found on the internet, I should just connect the converter, but it didn’t work:(

I tried with termination resistor and without. I’m wonder why RLD led is not blinking, looks like this meter is dead, but is brand new:(

What I can send from PC to receive answer from this meter? (mean connect RS485 converter to laptop and via terminal send something)
I know there is an application from Carlo Gavazzi, but it is 12 years old, and I’m not able to use it on Windows 11. Due to requirements of .Net framework 2.0, where currently is 4.8 version:(

important update:
I have “GX” on housing, and on the invoice, but not in the menu:D

Have I turn it on somehow?

Have you tried swapping RX and TX cables?

Are you using the usb-rs485 from victron? RS485 to USB interface - Victron Energy

I dont know this exact model of meter, but it should just send the data out all the time. Theres some things you can program over RS485 but nothing that would disable communication

You should be able to use an RS485 or modbus rtu diagnostic tool to see if theres any data being sent by the ET112 if plugged into your PC. I havent used that software in a while, so i cant remember its name, but theres many results if you search for rs485 diagnostic

Thats how the MP-GX looks like
https://www.victronenergy.com/media/pg/MultiPlus-II_GX/en/accessing-connection-points--mp-ii-.html

Since you have plugged the adapter into a USB socket on the MP, i guess you do have a GX built in

I checked it 4 times, and my connection (lines A and B) was correct, now it isn’t, but it works

Probably there is mistake on ET112 housing or on my converter…

@chrigu thank you!
