The Victron rs485 to USB cable is no longer available on the (Dutch) Victron website..
What is a good alternative?
I want to connect 2 batteries with rs 485 connection (jk bms) to the Cerbo, shown as two separate batteries in VRM.

No issues for CH340 on Venus OS ?
Ali also sells them, most JiKong suppliers have them too. Not sure if they are isolated, but that’s not always a problem.
It still on the dutch website…
If I go to the Victron Homepage; Assesoires; Cables.. the cable is not found.
Maybe the cable was hardly sold or not without flaws.
Your link is from Google and not up to date.
My link is not from google, its directly from the victron site and up to date
You will find it under accessoires > accessoires not cables as you can see in my link
the cable is used very often, you need it for energy meters and some other accesoires
i do find it odd not to be in the cable section! ![]()
(Not always a problem) Can you tell me more, I have seen in the past on YouTube blown BMS-s most with RS232 adapters and Daly.
I would certainly recommend the one sold by Victron, with 5 year warranty, and not some cheap alternative. That might also be one of the reasons that it is hard(er) to find at your preferred reseller. Good luck claiming a problem by that Asian website.
Does the recommend RS485 sold by Victron JK-BMS?
Problem is that a JK-BMS battery switch the “- “(GND) so in my opinion for safety you need an isolated device.
Or you can only connect the 2 wires (not the ground), but is that safety enough
On a dutch site

I found the cable on the Victron website, but no manual.
I did order 2 cables, one for each battery, I’ll see if it works, if it doesn’t I’ll throw in the xxxxx
I’ve until now never had a problem with non-isolated versions with RS323 to USB. I’ve often done it with NMEA into the laptop nd now it runs with my TTL to USB for connecting Victron VE Direct to the laptop. Works without problems. But, for safety, of course the isolated version is better. No doubt about that.
Your Laptop has some isolation and have no ground loop if only 1 device is connected. (my laptop power supply has no grounding)
Problem is you can blown your system or worse
When the battery switch off and you can have a ground loop (connected ground cable on your RS485 adapter) then the small wire from your cable will try to deliver the power
If you want to use these cable see advice NB! (not my advice)
Have you build your battery by yourself?
