Hi! I’m trying to connect my MultiPlus II (24/3000) to my Macbook M1 with a MK3-USB device. It has the USB-A connector, so I use a USB-C to USB-A hub.
I tried to connect with the VictronConnect app on MacOS, but it only finds the bluetooth devices, even though the computer can see that the MK3-USB is plugged in.
Then I tried to connect through VMware virtual machine with Windows 11, with the VEConfig, and again, no device found.
I noticed that I’m not the only one who can’t connect my non-ancient Macbook to the Multiplus.
But in the manual it says that the MK3-USB should work with Mac.
What could be the problem? Is it a software issue? Or could the USB-A to USB-C connection be the problem?
I used the MK3-USB successfully with a Linux laptop (with USB-A ports) and Multiplus 12/800 before.
I can use VictronConnect with Bluetooth or Network. To connect to the Multiplus via VE.Bus you need the MK3 device and VEConfig, this don´t work with MacOs. On older Macs with Intel-Processor Windows with Bootmanager works too, but not on Macs with M-Chips. Install WINE with the homebrew tool (google helps) and start it with (in my case)
cd .wine/drive_c/Program\ Files\ (x86)/VE\ Configure\ tools/
wine VEConfig.exe
What adapter brand do you use?
I tried several and none of them worked, not even the expensive one.
Yesterday I bought my 2015 Macbook with me to the boat, and that worked instantly!
So the problem must be the USB-C to USB-A connector.
I’d love to try the same as you have so I can use my M1 Macbook next time.
I bought my 2015 Macbook from home yesterday, and it worked right away with VictronConnect!
I don’t know if the M1 MacBook is the problem, because it works fine for some people. It could be the adapter, but I tried several…
I also use a Mk3 with a Macbook Pro M1. I use an A to C adapter - just a generic one from Amazon. Works fine, although the adapter is so shonky the USB C adapter is bending where it joins the rubber sleeve.
