Cerbo gx not staying connected To wifi

Hey all. We have a cerbo GX and Wi-Fi on our boat. The cerbo is connected to the Wi-Fi, but when I go to look for the cerbo via the VRM, it shows off-line. If I reboot the cerbo via the settings feature, it shows back up online but only for a short time. Any thoughts on how I can fix that?

Some things to check:

  • Signal strength is good
  • Wi-Fi router is up-to-date with most recent firmware
  • Is the Wi-Fi configured so it is not using the same channel as a neighbouring boat (eg Channel 6 is common) ?
  • Can you set the 2.4GHz side of the Wi-Fi router to 20MHz not 40MHz wide operation?

How does the Wi-Fi router get to the Internet? e.g. local marina, Starlink satellite, 4G/5G cellular modem, as that might be the issue.

Can you ping some websites when the outage happens?

Other folks may have some further ideas.

Thanks for the response. It is a T-Mobile home Wi-Fi router that updates automatically. I do not have the ability to change anything on it. It gets it serviced from cellular 4G/5G.

The cerbo shows that it’s connected to the Wi-Fi. But shows as offline when I try to connect remotely

Well since you have no control, call T-Mobile for help.

Maybe the IP address is changing a lot and that is causing a problem. https://whatismyipaddress.com/

Good luck - i haven’t got any other ideas.
