Hello everyone!
I have a Cerbo GX device that has been working fine until recently that it lost communication with VRM.
Upon checking, I realized that the Wifi Access Point of the device has been blinking Orange, which indicates that the Wifi Access Point is disabled. In actuality, the Wifi Access Point is not disabled.
I am currently not able to connect the GX device to internet.
What could be the problem??
The “wifi access point” isn’t your wifi connection to the internet, that’s the local access point for you to connect to the Cerbo: 7. Accessing the GX device
Also, please remove the VE.Can terminator from the open VE.Bus port. VE.Bus does not use terminators.
Thank you very much for the observation and for the correction.
Despite the removal of the terminal resistors, the issue has not been resolved.
Without the access point, how do I connect locally to set the device online?
The device has even lost connection with VRM.
How do I get the wifi access point back on???
If it was me I’d first try rebooting the system using the soft reboot function in the menu. As with any piece of electronics, the Cerbo can use an occasional reboot!
If that doesn’t work, try @HRTKD’s suggestion above; using your display, try re-entering your wifi password. I only use wired ethernet on mine, so I don’t run into the issue myself, but have seen that happen before.
Also make sure that you’re not trying to connect to a 5GHz wifi channel, as the Cerbo doesn’t support that - 2.4GHz only!
I’m also having problems with my cerbo gx with the WiFi network connection since purchasing it back in 2022. It was never good. Occasionally it worked than stopped for several months. You could get it to work by restarting it sometimes. Lately it doesn’t work anymore.
For some reason it will not see my home WiFi network even with the repeater right next to it:
Currently it is connected in to the lan connection. Otherwise I would never have VRM data.
The funny thing is that for some reason it will see and connect to my phone’s WiFi hotspot (Daniel) immediately, this shows how unrefined the WiFi interface is in this device:
The external antenna was done by me yes, but I’m sure it doesn’t affect the signal in a negative way, as it sees my phone’s hotspot easily, but not the WiFi repeater/access point right next to it.
When the WiFi was operational on the cerbo gx this modification with the external antenna allowed the cerbo gx to connect to my WiFi router in my hose from the the garden where the cerbo gx is located. So yes with as long as the cerbo gx WiFi works the external antenna modification dose help.
Yes I’m connecting to the cerbo gx correctly via BT when accessing or editing the WiFi settings in the cerbo gx:
A updated or a recall from Victron for this matter would be greatly appreciated. As many of us rely on the advertised WiFi connection, only to have it permanently out of function for most of the time.
These are the details of my cerbo gx for anyone interested. It’s one of the early ones purchased in 2022.
The Cerbo GX is not compatible with extended WIFI channels . I think it was channel 13, but not sure.
If you set your router to auto-channel it might use this channels.
I stepped into this appr 1.5 years ago, but haven’t found the related posts.
