Cerbo configuration

The tank level inputs are resistive and should be connected to a resistive tank sender. Victron does not supply tank senders. The tank level ports can each be configured to work with either European (0 - 180 Ohm); or US tank senders (240 - 30 Ohm); or to configure a custom Ohm resistance range between 0 Ohm and 300 Ohm.

However, I don’t see where in the new UI that the tank sender can be configured for these three options…

Devicelist → tank sensor you want to configure → setup

OK, thanks, I would have expected to find that under Integrations > Tank and temperature sensors.
Would it be possible to add an option for using these inputs as a pure analogue A/D without a pull up resistor / Current?

IDK but I guess with NodeRed you can use that inputs for other signals.

Hi Mathias,
Yes, I want to use this as an Irradiation sensor input. Turns out that the 11mA sensor current from the Cerbo introduces only a 4% error, that can be trimmed out using the zero and full scale settings. It would be nice for a future version of Venus to have the option to turn this sensing current off for the pure analogue input of 0-1.6 (1.8?) Volt.

I don’t want to promise too much but as far as I know Victron is working on a Irradiation sensor.
I’m not sure if or when it will be released.

If you have a look at this topic, It appears that the implementation of a simple in-plane sensor should not be difficult, and would be fairly simple to integrate.

I’m not a SW or HW engineer so I can’t say anything to that.

The GX Tank 140 device can be used with voltage based (0-10V but customisable) or current based (4-20mA) tank sensors. No idea if this would be a work around albeit extra expense.

I now have a prototype working Live on my system, but indicated as a ‘fuel tank’ of equal size as the adjacent solar system. We’ll see how that goes over the next few days.

Hi Matthais,
On a similar note, setting up the temperature sensor input: Settings>device>setup>type
This leads to a lot of APPLICATIONS for a temperature sensor, NOT the TYPE of temperature sensor, i.e. whether it is a 100 ohm 10k or 100k NTC thermistor. So it looks like the actual type of temperature sensor can’t be changed, only what you are using it for, information that should go into the custom name field.
Also interesting to note: Tank level sensors are plug and play, but Temperature sensors do not appear to be - they continue to give “open circuit” until device reboot.
It would also be nice to have miniatures of the tank and temperature gauges on the sides of the overview screen, and ONE combined tank and temperature gauge page, not split.
