Hi,
Backup and restore Cerbogx’s settings was raised a few months ago.
This feature is very important for many users.
Is this still in development ? Do we have a rough idea of the availability date?
Thank’s a lot !

Preface by saying i don’t have insider knowlege. But from a logical point of view, I think with all the developments on the new GUI this will be a wait thing until it is settled.
Settings back ups don’t seem to move very well between versions. Have tried a few ways myself with varying success. I now just have a commissioning check list.
Needless to say you wont get an official direct answer to the question.
It is definitely a feature i look forward to.
Thanks for the feedback !
It’s extremely disappointing that Victron does not have a way to backup and restore settings on such a complicated and configurable and necessary device like the Cerbo GX.
This feature has been requested since at least 2021 and we have been told they have been working on it yet after many pings, it still does not exist.
My second Cerbo GX refused to start a few days ago so this is the second time I have had to scramble to replace it. It’s bad enough having an unreliable device that routinely fails to start (at least in my 1.5 years of experience with it) and it’s another thing to have do upgrade firmware, re-upload configuration, re-pair bluetooth devices, re-configure settings etc at a point where your batteries (at least in my DVCC case) are unusable without a working Cerbo GX.
The unreliability of the Cerbo GX hardware is a very bad look for Victron’s brains of the system. And the inability to quickly backup and restore this unreliable device is even worse.
I’m also very disappointed that such a standard feature (which is also available in many other Victron products) is still missing, especially at the heart of the system.
What’s even worse is that there doesn’t seem to be any serious work being done on a solution.
Almost all manufacturers (even those of more complex systems) can do this. I can imagine that it’s not easy, but if manufacturers of routers, firewalls, NAS systems, PLCs, etc. can do it, Victron can probably do it too!
Please, Victron! Think seriously about it. I’ve been through a lot with your products, but a complex system without backup and restore is a no-go!
We absolutely need some kind of backup for sure!
I am also reinstalling the whole system the third time now due to changing Venus/GX device/SD Card sizes
