Upgrade from CerboGX to Ekrano: how to transfer settings?

Hi,
I am forced to switch from the CerboGX to an Ekrano GX. Thx MPVader
The system consits of about 38 devices with plenty of settings.

How can I transfer the device settings?
(I’m not asking about transferring VRM or SK)

Unfortunately there is no easy way as yet.
It is a case of doing it manually.

Are you serious?

They’re both GX devices. You must have provided for a transfer of basic settings during development.

It is more complex than it sounds.
It has been on the todo list for a while.
There was an initial release of this capability but it was not reliable so was pulled.
Frequently asked for.

At least the device data…

The main data is preserved in VRM. That all gets merged. Nodered can be imported.
The actual settings need to be applied again manually.

so, for example, each SmartShunt, MPPT, temp sensor etc. will get it’s name and config at the GX OS when integrating the Ekrano to VRM?

Sadly not. It will be discovered as a new device, but its performance/usage data and trends will be preserved in VRM.
Can’t recall if you set the name in Victron Connect for a device, if that is preserved. It most likely is in that scenario.
Anything you originally configured on the GX will have to be done again.

Thank you for your support! :+1:
OS-wise: :-1:

Unfortunately, most devices that connect to the GX via VE.Direct, CAN or other are difficult to match between systems. The same device connected to different GX devices will probably have different IDs so moving the ID-based settings to a new GX would not sync up with the device on the other GX.

GuiMods has a way to migrate SOME settings between systems but it’s a tiny fraction of the settings that exist for external devices.
