Let me begin with a simplified description of the offgrid system I am running : A Quattro, Pylontech batteries, a handful of MPPT’s and a Color Control CCGX, no AC inputs (as we are offgrid).
Last night the power went down in the house, with the error message that the battery voltage was low. It turned out that all the BMS connections were lost. The system couldn’t find any battery voltage anymore.
I restarted everything several times to find out where things went wrong. The CCGX showed the Pylontechs, but the BMS connections for the MPPT’s couldn’t be established. After a short while the BMS connection to the Pylontech’s was lost too, and the system was shut down again.
I tried updating the firmware for the CCGX, but it was already running the latest version (v3.60). The setting for the firmware was “automatic updates”.
Then I switched back to “manual update firmware” and loaded the previous version (v3.55), started up once more and now everything is working fine !
Now I am questioning myself : what is going on?
Has there been a firmware update last night for the CCGX (running 24/7 since 2017), which this device can’t handle anymore? Or is this CCGX getting old and tired?
Thank you all for your opinions and support for this question.
I support multiple sites and yes gx firmware 3.6 update caused multiple sites to go down. But only temporaly. The up date was large so it apears that ccgx on sites with managed batteries were oveloaded. They all came back up after 2 minutes. Errors logged were either comms lost with mppt or vebus low battery. Sites with ccgx and unmanaged (lead acid) were also affected, but they didnt loose power. They have a 2 minute gap in all System (gx generated) data in the advanced tap of vrm. GX cerbo sites were unaffected. Info has all be passed up the chain at victron
We are using Victron Multiplus 2 5000 GX and had the exact same issue today at 09:33 in the morning. All values in vrm stuck and Multiplus gave the Alarm message Low voltage and BMS disconnected. The batteries had 40 % capacity at this time. It seems that the issue begun in the night between 00:00 and 01:00. Because there are No values. I restarted the Multiplus and after that everything was working.
We were on 3.55 Firmware and I thoughtbit could be a bug and did a Firmware Update to 3.60. Automatic Update is disabled because after every Firmware Update i lost my custom configs of grid, shelly and PV inverters.
Anyone with the sme Problem ? Its Strange that there are other Users with the Same Alarm Message today.
I checked the setting for Automatic Update. The value was on “Check” not on disabled. Maybe a big Firmware File was downloaded and the File system of the nanopi was Out of space ?
Hey @Bokelt1904 , is it OK if one of our engineers logs in using Remote Support to see further details? I see you have the required access (Remote Support) already enabled.
My late 2017 CCGX running ESS with one BlueNova battery and MPPT connected via ethernet briefly lost BMS connectivity during the update, which saw it work hard as per attached. Was restored soon after and stable since.
yes, here also problems with version 3.60, off-grid system with BYD BMS, got about every 3-4 hours an #67 error, connection with BMS lost and 2x a power shutdown, reverted back to version 3.55 and all normal again
which is not about a CCGX but another model GX device, a much more powerful one.
@Bokelt1904 we checked, and your system is a so called modified system. (for which we don’t provide any warranty, support, and also are not interested in wrt debugging or quality - I hope you understand).
One of the services you’ve installed yourself is continuously crashing and restarting. Its related to a Shelly. Please disable or uninstall that. Its also writing excessively to the log files and the flash drive because of this.
