Hi all,
I’m currently running a Victron system configured with Dynamic ESS (DESS) and would like to add a Victron EV Charging Station for tighter system integration instead of using a third-party charger.
I’d appreciate guidance on:
-
What exact parts/components I need to purchase
-
Whether any additional meters, GX devices, or wiring are required
-
If there are known issues integrating with DESS
-
Where the EV charger would connect within the overall system (and how it should appear in the schema diagram)
-
Is Victron EV Charging Station compatible with Octopus tariffs (Flux and Go given DSS in use)
Current System Overview
Inverter:
- MultiPlus-II 15 kVA (48 V)
Battery Storage:
- 3 × 15 kWh Fogstar batteries (total 45 kWh)
PV Array:
-
South: 10 × 470 W (4.7 kW)
-
North: 11 × 470 W (5.17 kW)
-
West: 9 × 470 W (4.23 kW)
-
Total PV ≈ 14.1 kW DC
DNO Export Limit:
- 12 kW
Home Annual Consumption:
- ~4,100 kWh
Questions
-
Do I need any additional energy meters beyond my current grid metering setup?
-
Do I need any additional CT clamp for the solar generation feed?
-
Does the EV charger integrate directly via GX device, or is extra hardware required? currently GX device is connected via WIFI and I am planing for the EV charger to use the same WIFI network.
-
In the system diagram, does the EV charger connect purely on the AC-out side as a controllable load?
Any advice from those running a similar setup would be much appreciated.
