Hi! Has anyone been able to figure out if it is possible to somehow exclude EV charging from a Victron ESS system?
I have a 3-phase ESS-system with 3x Multiplus II and 72kWh of battery storage. It works great, except that the system drains the battery when I charge my EV.
I have a “smart” EV-charger (NOT a Victron charger) that charges my car when the electricity is at the lowest price each day. But in combination with my ESS that is not very smart…as it drains the battery when the price is low.
Could it be possible to add extra current sensors or energy meters for the EV-charger, to make the system ignore/exclude it? Maybe develop a new helper for this?
I have installed 2 energy meters, one where the EV charger is included in the measurements of the battery, and one where he is excluded. I have a manual switch, where I can select the ‘operation mode’. Most of the time the EV charger is excluded, and only taking energy from the grid, and not taking from the battery. In this configuration, excess solar energy can also be send to the EV charger.
In your case, it’s my understanding that you then must have your EV charger on AC-in, NOT AC-out.
Under ESS - Self-consumption from battery you select “Only critical loads” instead of “All system loads”. In this way you charge your EV from the grid instead of your battery.
