Single ESS inverter installed on Phase 1 of a three phase system

Hi All. Hoping someone can assist with an explanation. The Victron ESS documentation says the following:

"When installing a single-phase ESS in a system with a three-phase connection to the utility grid, make sure you install the ESS on phase one, L1."

This is found on the following link:

https://www.victronenergy.com/media/pg/Energy_Storage_System/en/installation.html

Would someone be able to explain why it has to be on Phase 1 as opposed to Phases 2 or 3? Thanks.

Hi

You can install on any phase as you don't always know what the lines company supply to you house and from what phase, as they balance the phases across a network in a residential areas.

If you have 3 phases to your house normally i goes on L1 but you can select what phase you are on in PV inverter settings asking what phase they are on etc
