SmartSolar: please help me to decide

Given a Victron SmartSolar MPPT 250/70-Tr VE.Can and I have 6 pieces of 460Watt el cheapo Chinese PV panel. The max Voc on paper 41V but I measure only 38-39V in mid summer as max. So the 250V MPPT could deal with them in series too. Question: Should I wire the 6 panels in series or 2 x 3 for this type of MPPT?

Type in the full specs into the MPPT sizing calc.

You have to allow for cooler weather when Voltage increases and would then overload the MPPT.

246V is too close to the limit, rather split into into 2 x 3, or get an RS450, but that is more expensive and overkill, unless you are planning on upgrading in the future.

The panel spec are important.

FYI they produce higher voltage when colder. So the cold Voltage is more important to avoid overvolting

2 x 3 in series! Do not even think about 6 in series.
