ESS settings not allowing the battery to be used effectively

I have the following setup

1 MultiPlus 48/5000/70-50 Prod ID 2639 Firmware ver 469 257 2659469 MK3

1 Blue solar charger MPPT 150/70 Prod ID 0x108 Firmware ver V2.00

1 Blue Nova battery 8 Kw 48 Volt Lithium - 100% charged voltage 55.33

1 color controller

3,5 kW of solar panels

ESS app is installed in the MulltiPlus

Grid connected 230 V 30 A

The setup will only allow 40% use of the battery at 59/60% it hops back to grid

I have set the battery to optimise without battery life in the ess settings

Where, how, do I get the setup to use the battery down to 20%?

ESS

First off, your firmware is quite dated I would get all the moving parts current.

The minimum SOC determines grid cut in. If you use batterylife, it may take a while to adjust the "active limit" (which the system will use instead) to come down, so best to disable it once batteries are fully charged.

You can enable it again later, but unless you live in a European country with terrible weather, in sunny climates I find it's easier to just leave it off altogether.

Make sure you follow the setup steps at:

https://www.victronenergy.com/media/pg/Energy_Storage_System/en/index-en.html

DVCC needs to be on etc..

Check the individual settings on the inverter and charger as well as per:

Hello @Rupert Colley , I believe your Blue Solar 150/70 is not compatible with ESS functions.

https://www.victronenergy.com/blog/2019/08/06/new-product-range-ve-can-smartsolar-mppts/

Depth of the battery you can find in the ESS menu.

regards, Rob

Any VE.direct or VE.CAN charger will be fine.

Just make sure all the code has been updated to avoid known issues.

Hi Rob,

Tks for response

Depth of discharge set to 20% in ESS settings to no avail

What has the charger got to do with the ESS not allowing the battery to go to 20% at night when it is not in operation?

Your battery BMS (assuming it has one) can communicate with the GX device?

In your GX device what is set for "battery monitor"?

Also, what's the ESS status # displayed on the main screen (in CCGX) when this happens?

Check you haven't enabled dynamic cutoff on the inverter.

It's enabled when using ESS.

But yes, he should check the voltage values there.

indeedy, it's the only additional mechanism which could trigger a consistent result.
