ESS draws power from grid

Hi,

I have installed a 3 phase ESS system concisting of the following:

  1. 3x Multiplus II 10kVA – configured for 3 phase
  2. 1x Fronius Symo 15kW 3phase connected on Multi output
  3. 1x Victron RS MPPT 450/200
  4. 1x Energy Meter – Grid
  5. 1x Energy Meter – underfloor heating – connected before Multi
  6. 1x Energy Meter – tank heater – connected before Multi
  7. 6x BYD LV Flex Lite batteries
  8. System is configured for ESS operation
  9. 4 temperatures sensors across the room for monitoring purposes as they where available

When the ESS is configured for multiphase regulation power is drawn from the network although battery SOC (54%) is still above the set ESS threshold of 40%. The power should be taken from the batteries itself and not from the grid. When ever this happens, the other phases doe export power from the batteries to the grid draining the batteries further.

Try switching from multiphase regulation (if you are allowed to by local regulations) to individual phase regulation.

Also wanted to clarify the size of inverters vs battery bank. 3x 10kva quattros need at least 12 batteries of the BYD flex 5.0s?

You have just enough for 3x 5kva multi 2s there. According to minimum battery sizing recommendations and what i have seen in the field.

Just to add clarity. Try switching to “Optimised Without Battery Life”, your set SOC will become more relevant then as the battery life algorithm is taken out of the equation.
