VRM Email requests for access

I have received 2 emails requesting access to my installation. Is this a normal thing? Or is in spam? Lee Hutchins and Colin Bitterfield are the 2.

If this is SPAM, how do I avoid this contact in the future.

Thank you

Now I have an installation added to my VRM that is not mine. Anyone have this experience?

I’ve flagged this for review by Victron/the VRM team, someone may reach out to you directly via email or message to check some elements of your VRM acct and make sure that nothing’s amiss.

Hi @dzlsmok

First thing to try is logging out of your VRM account, logging back in and seeing if the installation is still there or not.

Please give that a go and report back.

The Cerbo GX I bought was from eBay and a wrecked boat. The original owner is doing a completely new setup on a new boat and somehow it tagged back to my Cerbo when he set up his new one.

I emailed the guy and I think we got it sorted out, but I am not 100% certain.

I know I wiped the Cerbo I bought of eBay to start fresh.

Wiping the Cerbo GX locally doesn’t make any difference in this situation.

The unique VRM ID that is located on the sticker on the side of the GX persists between hard resets.

This VRM ID is linked with the VRM user account on our server side. The first time the GX is connected (from the factory), the VRM site is activated.

The first VRM user account to try to add it is automatically made the VRM owner for that site on the VRM server.

From there it normally requires that owner to delete the VRM site from their user account on VRM to ‘free’ it again. Then the next time that GX is rebooted, it will be available for a new VRM user to become the new owner of that VRM site.

There is a manual override to this process that is possible by the Victron engineers, usually requiring some proof of ownership, and a referral from a trusted party (like a Victron dealer). That pathway is accessible via the VRM support address - Need support? - Victron Energy

I think we have got that squared away where the previous owner deleted the old GX. It seems to be working on my end just fine.
