I have VM-3P75CT. There are CTs that come in the box with the energy meter. However the CT cables are shorter than expected. What is the possibility of extending the CT cable?
Depends on how far you want to extend them. Ct cables can be extended as a twisted pair, though account must be taken of the required wire size. Some CT’s have as much as 5A flowing in the secondary circuit. Find out what the current is, and use a suitable wire size for the distance. The wires of the current transformers can be extended if necessary, but note that this will increase the measurement noise
slightly. In general: The longer the cables, the higher the noise floor. However, if the length is doubled, the additional error is still low
(almost 0A). To minimise induced noise, it is recommended to twist the wires like the wires supplied with the device.”
