VictronConnect 6.10 -> 6.12 (release) bugs

Hello developers,

I’ve made the mistake to forgot to disable the automatic updates in Android for VictronConnect application and I’ve found out that the application was updated to version 6.10.

Now, three things observed on the new VC 6.10 with a Multi RS Solar on FW1.16

Issue 1:

  • Open application
  • Select Multi RS from the device list
  • Application connects with the Multi RS (10%, 20%, … 90%, 100%)
  • Application reads Multi RS status and shows its layout
  • The layout moving dots animation is starting, apparently showing a stable connection
  • After 2-3 seconds the layout freezes and connection is dropped, application being unresponsive
  • After another 10-15 seconds the application tries to reconnect again with the Multi RS (10%, 20%, … 90%, 100%)
  • After (re)connection the connection holds and you can use application

Happens every time, invariably and it’s not a problem of bluetooth signal as the connection is within 1 meter.

Issue 2:
Is there a possibility to hide the annoying “Update available” message ?
I don’t want (yet) to update to the FW1.19, because the system works and I don’t care for the new feed-in options of the FW1.19

Issue 3:
How can I obtain an older version (apk) of the 6.09, if I want to roll back?
Below are only the latest versions. For example 6.09 cannot be found.

Thank you!

Issue 3 is solved by myself and reinstalled 6.09.2.
And disabled automatic updates for VC…

Issue 1 and Issue 2 remain active.

Hi Alex,

Thanks for reporting. We’ll look into the issues.

Please, could you indicate the details about your phone?

Have you tried with a different one?

No, didn’t tried another phone because since I’ve started to use the Victron ecosystem, this phone, with all previous versions of VictronConnect, never missed a beat. I mean here all versions from 5.99 until the current 6.09.2. All release versions, never used beta versions.
The phone used for VictronConnect is a Samsung A31 with Android 10.
Thanks for the interest!

Now at 6.12 and the same behavior…

More of that, if the phone enters standby while you are in the application, when you wake it up, the screen is blank / black.
Only after a lot of taps and refresh swipes, the application wakes up again.

LE:
Reinstalled 6.09.2: no freeze at the beginning and no black screen after waking up from standby.

Seeing exactly same issues… black screen if phone sleeps… and when using to access my rs multi… screen freezes, no animation of power movement, and worse. All options freeze, not able to access any tabs within the app… pointless if trying to set up for 1st time espeically…!! Used during summer to talk to my 12v charger in woorkshop… not sure if its an issue or just the multi rs

6.12 is causing me headaches.
Samsung Android 13 phone
Will not stop running no matter what I try, drains the battery.
I uninstalled turned phone off and reinstalled. App no longer finds my 4 victron products even when less than a meter away.
Tried removing all associated settings and files, bluetooth settings, uninstalling. turned phone off and reinstalled.
Still finds no victron products and will not quit.

Hi Mauricio @mpalavecino

Happy New Year!
Anything new here?
I’ve edited the title as the 6.12 is behaving the same…

And more of that…

VictronConnect application on Windows, that we all know that from version 6, released on March 2024, the Windows 7 is not supported anymore.
All understandable… Who has Win7, just use the old 5.107 version. OK.

BUT !!!

If you want to connect from Win7 through VC 5.107 and through VRM to your system, you can’t anymore.
The programs authorize itself OK into VRM, but when clicking on the master Cerbo for system connection, the connection progress bar goes until 40% and freeze there, with the CPU core assigned to the VictronConnect application process going to 100%.
Maybe something changed in the way VRM works and systems that up until lately (under few months) worked OK, now does not ?…

Thank you!
